@gorilla_rape "Mistakenly". Bullshit, he's racist and he saw his chance to make an excuse and punch a white guy. Same logic that allows looting. "I don't like what happened, so I'm going to steal anything that isn't nailed down"
@TahirShah687@TRobinsonNewEra Tommy peacefully protested for years and their response was to jail him, repeatedly.
The riots are the response to peaceful protests being ignored.
@pb_and_jaybird Here's a better idea you snarky dipshit. Why don't you show a counter example instead of just suggesting it exists. While you're at it, why don't you compare the statistical rates of your example with the "trans" population and watch how quickly your argument falls apart.
Ok, let's assume that's true right now. Maintaining a physical building on earth in the South Pole is different than maintaining satellites. What about power? You still have to build and maintain a power plant(s). Everything will have to be automated or a difficult problem becomes much more complicated. If it's possible, to automate everything, why wouldn't they do that here?
"More hospitable than the Moon" isn't the argument. Space datacenters are designed to run with no support at all. Launch, run, replace. The South Pole, you need people there year round and not just to maintain the datacenter, it's everything around it. Power generation, fuel storage, housing, runways, the whole supply chain that keeps people alive down there. A failed part waits for the next flight or ship. It's the worst of all worlds. All the terrestrial challenges, magnified by location and climate extremes, with none of the existing infrastructure and none of space's advantages.
Sure, with fiber, but it's not there. Now it's just satellite at 600ms. Even with fiber, high latency is not just bad for gaming, it's also:
High-frequency trading
Video conferencing and VoIP
Remote operations: telesurgery, drone/vehicle control, autonomous vehicle coordination
Industrial control / SCADA systems
Live auctions and ticketing
Real-time fraud detection at point of sale
CDN / edge content delivery
Live sports betting and streaming
And again, what about power? Build power stations? Sure. Now think of the cost of not just running the fiber, but building the infrastructure. Now consider getting the materials there and then finding someone to build it and maintain it.
@Keir_Starmer You absolutely tolerate it, which is why so many savage third-worlders are here. You would just start deporting them en-mass if you did not tolerate it.
@Nerdrotics Farewell Japan? Oh thank God. This is just a post showing how lovely Japan is. I was afraid it was going to be a bunch of third-worlders destroying the place.
I wish we could knock it off with the feminine attempt to transfer responsibility. It's not "pinkflation" and they're not being forced to buy the "female" version, they choose to. The market reacts to behavior. Stop trying to blame corporations for the inability of some women to use logic to moderate their behavior.
