NYT video analysis is pretty definitive. He was out of the path of the vehicle when he fired, the tires were clearly turned to the right, and the President and others are relying on the poorest quality clip to argue he was struck by the vehicle. He wasn’t.

One drew his gun on her, another had his hand on her door handle.

She feared for her life and tried to flee.

She was clearly justified in fearing for her life.

Under Common law even citizens have a right of reasonable force to protect their lives.

A court would not have found her guilty for any injury or harm to that officer.

He on the other hand is clearly guilty of murder.
