sometimes i think of marcus picking semmelweis up when she has trouble walking on her own (injured/no blood for days). while bella's all "ooh me me it's my turn" in her head, semmelweis is like "she's not doing this for fun" but semmelweis DOES like the way marcus carries her.

i just thought of marcus getting a fan letter signed off with "ily." she goes to ask semmelweis "what does ily mean?" and semmelweis nonchalantly answers "it means i love you," and then there's a beat before semmelweis looks up and goes "...wait, who said that to you?"

i feel like one of the ways marcus shows comfort is by asking weirder and weirder questions and semmelweis somehow has an answer to all of them

it'd be really funny if blood doesn't taste any different to semmelweis and it's always really disgusting but she HAS to drink it so her body can function. when marcus is like "is it true blood tastes good to vampires?" semmelweis just makes a face and says "no it's still gross"

semmelweis doesn't interfere with it. she just lets marcus be until she sets the book down and look away from it again. when marcus sees her, the grief is still there but there's also the relief in knowing they both look for the image of the same person in each other.

woke up from an awful nightmare and i haven't been able to go back to sleep so i'm thinking of semmelweis noticing that there's an untouched part of marcus's grief that always feels like she's stuck on one page of a book.
