COVID-19 Public Health Subject Matter Expert | Author | Public Health Professional | Infectious Disease Behaviorist | Principle Deputy Assistant Secretary ASPR
For 30 years, I’ve served public health—drawn to people who were suffering most, especially during infectious disease crises, when stigma can separate families.
I’ve learned courage is often quiet: a hand held, a story listened to, love that shows up even in dangerous moments. In those moments, service isn’t an idea—it’s presence, preparation, protection, response, and recovery.
On Monday, I begin what I consider the greatest professional endeavor of my life: leading the dedicated team at HHS ASPR (Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response).
It’s not a matter of if, but when our country will face what comes next—floods, hurricanes, natural disasters, biological or chemical threats, or the next pandemic event. When crisis arrives, we must lean on our values:
ONE NATION • UNDER GOD • INDIVISIBLE • LIBERTY • JUSTICE FOR ALL
Thank you to President Trump and Secretary Kennedy for your faith in me. I’m grateful for all thoughts and prayers.
God bless you—and God bless America. 🇺🇸

I will never forget 09/11/01. Today, we remember the lives lost and honor those who gave and risked their lives to protect and save others. Their courage, sacrifice, and service must never be forgotten.
God bless America.
