All so-called judgment biases can be explained by 3 universal imperatives (rules):
1. Successfully reproduce - have children that have children of their own.
2. Defend the tribe.
3. Survive.

I would be in awe of someone who took the risk of having a face to face encounter with a grizzly bear by hunting it at short range and be disgusted by someone who used a long-range sniper riffle to kill a dangerous beast at no personal risk. Both methods produce the same trophy.
