I get asked for that behaviour magic wand a lot and unfortunately it simply doesn't exist if you want to be inclusive
Doesn't mean there isn't a practical sequential approach when working with behaviour, especially if you want to go from 'for' to 'with'
Thanks @grahamchatterl2 for the fantastic @TeamTeachLtd training you delivered today. Great session all the staff enjoyed it and got so much from it. Highly recommend it!
BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT
🧵 In this thread, I have summarised some of Dr Bill Rogers’ top behaviour management techniques. Each tip is supported with an old-school video… 📼
“You establish what you establish”
Modelling through our behaviour and actions as a teacher is more imperative than we realise. Children watch everything we do all of the time.

Students will have constantly been on their phones during lockdown. Try using ‘we’ve got a school rule’ for mobile phones when a phone is out in class. Also use the school rule for other situations. Focus on the primary behaviour not the secondary behaviour that may follow #calm
Routines: establish those keystone habits & focus relentlessly on them! In your classroom- is it ‘one voice’ or ‘do as you are asked first time’ or do you want them lining up in a certain way? Books and equipment out? Teach them the routines, they will have forgotten #routines
Some thoughts for tomorrow ... Recognise those students doing it right FIRST! Meet them at the door, great to see you back. Excellent, mask on, hands sanitised in you go... those 1 or 2 without their mask on or not on properly - prompt non-verbally, give take up time, thanks👍
