One can't deny the convenience of a smartphone. It's basically a portable computer. However, with the rising cost of smartphones these days, sometimes you don't need the convenience. While smartphones serve many purposes, radios serve one and does it well.

While televisions and smartphones are also instant in broadcasting information, radios are more useful in the event of an emergency where resources such as electricity are unavailable. Due to being an audio-only device, it does not demand much power to run properly.
