Ursa Ag recently set shockwaves in motion by marketing a line of tractors with no onboard computers at all.
Tractors these days are fragile, overpriced monstrosities in which everything is done by computer. They break down constantly because of excessive complexity, and only authorized repair firms are allowed to fix them, at wildly inflated prices and with long delays.
Ursa Ag’s tractors are on the other end of the spectrum. They’re simple, sturdy, easy to repair, and cost a modest fraction of what the big boys are charging. Unsurprisingly, the demand is so high that they’re scrambling to expand production lines, because what they offer is what farmers actually want. It’s also the kind of tractor that was standard on North American farms in 1970 or so.
Once again, somebody pushed the rewind button on progress, and the people most directly affected by it couldn’t be happier.
A Farmer emailed VNI West: “Do not come. We’re in peak lambing strangers & vehicles will stress the ewes and kill lambs.” They showed up anyway. Trespassed, Ignored his written warning.
Corporate incompetence meets zero respect for farming. This is the 3rd video. Same story on multiple farms.
Iberdrola (Spanish €80B giant) behind VNI West’s $11.4B project: interrupting critical farm ops, risking animal welfare for their “environmental assessment.”

It’s been 40 years of the SA Junior Heifer Expo — four decades of championing young talent and supporting the Australian beef industry.
We caught up with past and present competitors to hear what the Expo meant to them in the early days, and what it continues to mean today.

@ZwarFarms Have a 13” with an electric clutch but the real secret for capacity for your consideration is a diesel engine!
Excellent on things like lentils and a lot can be attributed to torque.
Potential #drought looms for #Saskatchewan in 2024 as minimal snowpack and above-normal temperatures raise agricultural risks. The province is the world's largest exporter of peas, lentils, durum #wheat, and #canola. Lower yields could affect exports. @AAFC_Canada@OntAg
These are mum and dad families, young families, that have invested everything they have to get back on track after the floods!
It isn’t about pointing fingers it’s about understanding that even though you are 30-40km from these farms you can still impact them
@ipaddockapps I would take more vigour any day. With a finishing rain, the story would've been inverse, plus the extra weed competition. Biomass can be managed in other ways with seeding rate and nitrogen management.
