"I can rest later. Now I want to work."
@CarliLloyd, 2016. At the time, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, World Cup champion, and still was not satisfied.
That's the gap between talented & champion. Titles aren't given, they're chased. Even after you've already won everything.
USWNT legend Carli Lloyd isn't backing down from her criticism of USMNT star Christian Pulisic after reports he fractured his leg in the World Cup R16 loss to Belgium, saying he "skipped the Gold Cup," "ended up resting the whole year" and she doesn't "owe anyone an apology." 😯
@rjohnston4@PhoebesPenny26@sydneyleroux I used to work for our national team. I know the rules. They could have ruled him out as a serious injury because he didn’t play and took another players spot.
@TaylorTwellman said what needed to be said, and it makes sense. He doesn’t want to be the main guy and his decision and actions in the last 24 months have proved that.
@rjohnston4@PhoebesPenny26@sydneyleroux Yes people get hurt, but once they do they are replaced by the alternate players of ruled out no longer can play. He took someone’s spot on the roster who could have been called up to play. It happens on every team, every level in our national team ecosystem.
You believed. You filled stadiums. You brought the game into homes and communities across the country.
Most of all, you showed everyone what this crest means. Thank you.
This is the biggest World Cup ever organized. 104 matches. 16 cities. 3 countries. 48 teams. As someone who worked 4 FIFA Youth World Cups, I think a lot of people are missing the scale of operations of this tournament.
The interment has their panties in a bunch..Hydration Breaks!
You can argue what you want but here’s the actual truth. According to @ussoccer Heat Guidelines, hydration breaks should occur when the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) reaches 89.6°F or higher. 🧵🪡
As someone who played through to a collegiate level, it’s always about the safety of the players on the field. I don't think it should happen every match. But FIFA is doing it to stay consistent across every match.
