Dowry is a choice made by your parents to pay in order to marry you.

It is a choice, not a forced choice, it is a voluntary choice. It’s your dad’s choice, it’s your choice. You choose to pay.

If your father wishes, and you wish, both of you could opt out of paying dowry. You could simply refuse someone who is asking for dowry and marry elsewhere, where no one is demanding it.

Before blaming anyone else for dowry, question your father and yourself: why did you decide to marry into a family that was asking for dowry, and why did you pay it in the first place when you had the option to simply opt out and marry to someone who is not demanding dowry.

That's what the point is. Why does the women's family give dowry if the men's family demands it. Where is rejection in this process? Why not wait for a guy who doesn't demand dowry?

Men blame the bride’s dad for giving dowry to get a rich groom. In reality, the groom’s family demands it. Today, many women earn way more than men also come from strong family backgrounds.

What if she has not sacrificed anything. Not career. Not her family, Not her ex relationships, not her health. She still gets alimony.
But dowry, no irrelevant men get dowry. They marry without dowry. It is only given to influential families by the women's families.

Alimony is support after divorce if one partner is economically dependent or has sacrificed career, income, or time for the relationship/family.

Dowry = illegal demand.
Alimony = legal right.

A fair statement is:
I won’t take dowry, and I believe alimony should only be given when truly needed.
