I just saw a slide from a Dallas "Unpopular Opinion" event that said: "Black People Should STOP Opening Restaurants." 😳
The next slide said: Hostess? Mad. Server? Mad. Bartender? Mad. Kitchen? OVERLY mad. 😂 And yes, I laughed, because we've ALL been there. Plus the prices, the charge for every little thing, the automatic gratuity, I get it.
But I can't agree with that headline. Here's why 🫳🏾
🔹 Bad service isn't a Black thing. I've walked into restaurants of every culture where nobody was nice to me.
🔹 When EVERYBODY working there is mad, look at the workplace. Sometimes they're underpaid, overworked, or not getting paid on time. Sometimes it's management treating employees like they're disposable.
🔹 Cooking good food and running a business are two different skills. I knew a man who had a restaurant. Every time it made money, he'd take it all out the register, then he couldn't pay the people working for him. That's not race. That's not being a good steward of what you have.
And let's be real: there are PLENTY of Black restaurants that are professional, pay their people well, and don't overcharge you. To say ALL of them are like this just isn't true.
So instead of telling us to STOP opening restaurants, how about this: 💡 Let's connect the Black owners who are doing it RIGHT, from the mom-and-pop spots to the upscale places, with the ones who are struggling. Mentorship. Training. Business and money management. Customer service.
We love our food. We don't need fewer Black restaurants. We need stronger ones. 💪🏾
What do y'all think? Did she have a point, or did she go too far? 🫳🏾

I’m going to enjoy this win, celebrate that comeback, and mind my business until next Sunday. 😂❤️💙
Let me be clear: I’m not saying Gorgeous Doll is lying, and I’m not saying Kai is innocent. I’m saying
I have questions.
She has shared a story about her past with Future, but I don’t recall her making this kind of allegation about him. Now she’s sharing a very serious story about Kai, while his name is already caught up in the Reggie situation.
If she really liked Kai, I’m trying to understand why she chose to put these details out publicly now. Maybe she wants people to hear her side, maybe the timing is a coincidence, or maybe there’s more to it. I don’t know her motive, so I’m not going to pretend I do.
I’m listening, but I’m also waiting for more information. Her claims haven’t been independently confirmed, and Kai hasn’t publicly responded to these specific allegations. The timing raises questions for me, but it doesn’t prove she’s lying, or prove the story is true.

Some things can be worked on, so you can’t be too picky about every little detail. But character matters.
And the person should meet you where you are in life. whatever that level looks like for you.
You should be able to grow together, without one person having to drag the other along.
This story is so heartbreaking.
A 13-year-old boy’s collar caught on a screw inside the slide at Shenandoah Park. He was found unresponsive, spent a week on life support, and sadly passed away.
I’ve taken my own children to slides like this, and so have many other families. This is a reminder for all of us, whether you’re out with your children, grandchildren, neighborhood kids, or children you’re babysitting, to stay close and pay attention.
You never expect something like this to happen, but it can.
I also have serious questions about the park reopening so quickly. What inspection was done after this happened? Was the slide thoroughly checked before families were allowed back in? The City of Miami needs to do better and give the community clear answers.
My heart goes out to his mother and everyone who loved him. WPLG has included the family’s GoFundMe information on its website for anyone who would like to support them.

I don’t think Nupe should have to do everything for free. His time and experience have value, and people who want hands-on help may be willing to pay for it. But $500 to join a battle series is a serious investment, especially for small creators.
Someone with a strong personality, a supportive team, and a lot of consistency might make that money back, but that won’t be everybody’s experience.
The real question is: will the 3,500 viewers in his live actually support the smaller creators during the battles? Will they follow them, show up in their lives, send gifts, or help them build an audience?
If that support comes with the $500, I can see the potential. But if people watch Nupe and don’t carry over to the creators, then it’s a big risk for whoever pays.
I’m not saying it should be free. I just think people should know what kind of exposure they’re paying for, and understand that a big audience in one person’s live doesn’t guarantee that audience will become theirs.

Gorgeous Doll says she only brought this situation up to clear her name because people kept accusing her of extorting Kai.
But my question is: who are these people?
I had never heard that accusation before she brought the story to the internet. Maybe a few people knew, but she made it sound like everybody had been talking about it for 16 months.
If people were constantly asking her for screenshots, where were they asking? Who was saying this?
She says she and Kai agreed this should never hit the internet, then says she spoke out because she was tired of being lied on.
I have a lot of questions, because if she hadn’t posted about it, a lot of us wouldn’t even know there was a story to question.
Now she’s apologizing and saying she wants to let it go, but the public only got pulled into it after she brought it online.
Make it make sense.

Yesterday, I was watching TikTok videos of people speaking out about racism in Miami, including Black people sharing what they’ve faced while applying for jobs. Then today, I saw this Miami Herald report: El Dorado Furniture will pay $1.3 million to settle a hiring discrimination charge after the EEOC found reasonable cause to believe its hiring practices favored Hispanic applicants.
The deeper problem is when people with hiring power favor their own racial or ethnic group over other applicants, regardless of who is actually qualified. That can happen in any group, and it creates a cycle where people are chosen because of who they are or who they know instead of their skills and ability to do the job.
Some Black applicants say they’ve been told they need to speak Spanish to get hired, or that they felt their last names worked against them.
This report is a reminder that these concerns shouldn’t be brushed aside. I’m not blaming an entire community; I’m calling out unfair hiring practices wherever they happen. And El Dorado is not the only company people have concerns about.
I’m speaking from what I see and experience here in Miami.

The bottle-cap game looked convincing because people were standing around “winning,” but the real red flags were there: strangers moving money through Cash App, someone else holding the cash, and a man repeatedly asking if she was honest.
Don’t judge a person by their hairstyle, watch their actions. And please don’t go searching for someone who just scammed you. Your safety is worth more than a confrontation.
