@marinwaves I don’t read the “my” in “this my wife/child/dog” in the sense of ownership. It’s in the sense of affiliation: “this is my jam”, “in my hometown” — neither claims ownership of a song, or town.
The tweet you’re responding to argues against a narrow denotation and ignores context.
Looking at magical “far away dates” in our code, I discover these tidbits:
• we have no records in some table which were created before 1900-01-01
• that same table has no records created after 3000-01-01
…I can’t dispute either of those assumptions.
@turtlefur I like your products and prefer to purchase direct from manufacturers vs giving Amazon their cut, but honestly, TEN emails is excessive.
Five of these are marketing follow-up.
My 2 items came in a single mailed package; why send 2 shipping emails?
SUBSCRIPTION?!
Ok maybe I don’t need a new HDMI cable because @BlueJeansCable has an article https://t.co/uWQnrNN56P saying “Hey dummy you probably don’t need this”, BUT they fail to say “It’s dumb to make a vanity purchase of an HDMI cable just because we use @BeldenInc” so maybe it’s okay
@vailmtn Please renew your domain https://t.co/h1HskeKIEI - transactional emails that you’re sending contain links to that domain, which is not available.
.@Codecademy When I go to sign up and use GitHub as an oauth provider, why do you request such a large scope: to read and write all of my repositories?!
That’s INSANE!!1!!11
Signing in with Google has a much more sensible scope: know my name, email address, and profile picture.
The new 2024 Dungeons and Dragons Player’s Handbook doesn’t include a humorous italicized Disclaimer on the copyright page. Legacy #dnd5e had just an extra touch of humor, pity it’s missing now.
The crust of the bread is not some magical nutrient-dense peel, like an apple or potato. There aren’t extra vitamins hiding in it.
The crust is just the inside of the bread with a suntan.
@raakhus @UjuAnya @heymrsbond I’ve never thought about why I think education is intrinsically valuable but this nailed it perfectly for me.
Great find.
