We were in the High Court today for the hearing in our judicial review against National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) abusive searching guidance.

This guidance permits a detainee to be strip-searched by an officer of the opposite sex on the basis that both the detainee and officer “consent” to this. We think this is unlawful.

Under “PACE” – the main law governing police conduct – strip searches MUST be carried out by an officer of the same sex. This protects officers as well as detainees. Our argument is simple: PACE is the only lawful basis for police searching, and it doesn’t permit opposite-sex searches that go beyond outer wear.

Opposite-sex searches are unsafe and unlawful treatment of vulnerable detainees. We also think the guidance is discrimination against and harassment of female officers.

Judgment was reserved, meaning it will be handed down at a later date.

A choir has been dropped by a charity from the London Marathon over its founder’s gender-critical views.

The Singing Striders, who regularly support runners from the sidelines, were invited by Scope to perform this Sunday. They’ve now been removed because one member — founder Janet Murray — holds gender-critical beliefs.

Scope said her views conflict with its “commitment to diversity and inclusion”, reportedly following two anonymous complaints.

Janet Murray told The Telegraph: “When cancel culture reaches something as joyful as a choir supporting marathon runners, it’s a sobering reminder of how insidious it can be.”

Gender-critical beliefs are protected under the Equality Act 2010 and were reaffirmed by last year’s Supreme Court ruling. Yet cases involving people penalised for holding these views remain the largest category at the Free Speech Union.

This is deeply unfair to a choir that has supported the marathon before and spent months preparing.

My choir - which specialises in singing at charity running events - has been dropped from Sunday's London Marathon.

Because I don't believe people can change sex - and said so publicly.

We were dropped by the disability charity Scope - who we've supported for the past two years - on the basis of two anonymous complaints. About MY gender critical beliefs.

So not only am I being discriminated against due to my lawfully held views - so are other people.

After months of preparation ... disappointed is not the word.

Suffice to say, if there are any organisations out there who are happy to welcome volunteers with lawfully held beliefs on sex and gender, we'd love to be your 'cheer squad' at Sunday's London Marathon.

Our running themed 'set list' is always a hit with runners and we bring fun, enthusiasm and props in spades (hence the 'Eye Of The Tiger' mask).

We'd love to help support runners raise money for good causes at this year's London Marathon - as we have done in previous years.
