As part of the activities to celebrate children service month and the campaign period for 16 days of activism on GBV @HakiKNCHR team participated in various forums sensitizing the public on children rights and gender based violence

The public also benefited from a mental health talk from @HakiKNCHR. They were enlightened on the signs to look out for on mental illness, how to promote their mental wellness and facilities where they can get support.

@KNCHRkisumu Regional Coordinator facilitated interactive public engagement forums in Busia and Kakamega Counties. In her remarks she sensitised the public on land rights, marriage and the law of succession. She also addressed the gathering on femicide

The sensitisation forum was significant in enhancing awareness on GBV & the rights which are violated when it is perpetrated. The participants are better equipped to champion for ending GBV.

The participants also proposed solutions to reduce GBV including; sensitisation campaigns on GBV & its consequences, parties being slow to anger & quick to understanding & resolving disputes calmly, rehabilitation, mentorship for boys & disregarding harmful cultural norms

@HakiKNCHR joined @PrisonsKe Kisumu Maximum prison in celebrating the 16 days of activism against GBV on women and girls. The @KNCHRkisumu team facilitated a sensitisation forum on GBV to mark the campaign.

During the service month the @Kenyajudiciary fast tracks cases involving children either as victims, children in conflict with the law or custody and maintenance cases. Additionally, it offers an opportunity to sensitive the public and stakeholders on children rights.

No one should go through what that lady on Forest Road went through. As they are prosecuted, we need media to constantly shine a light on the case. We must send a clear message to boda riders that their behavior is unacceptable and shall be severely punished. This MUST STOP!
