Belle Vue Brian

A rare out of control moment. Ivan's daughter Debbie reported that he came off at the next bend. And great to see Chris Pusey. Both very very sadly missed.

One of you mentioned this photo a few days ago, so...

I think this picture is from 2023 but couldn't resist it when I saw a similar one of the Tour de France on the BBC website today. Inspired by Messrs C & G Pusey of Maghull!?!

Happy 70th Birthday. Some special moments packed in during that time. For example .....

Fabulous photo of a #Legend #Hero

Cheers to you Jeff 🍺

What a race! And here's the man himself. When I met Anders Michanek and told him he was in the best race I ever saw he said - 'where was that?'

[Mark Simm @markesimm]

Today is the 50th Anniversary of that legendary @UprightSpeedway race that every one still talks about - the match race between Peter Collins and Anders Michanek to decided the KO Cup Final at Hyde Road …are we sure no one filmed it - have we all checked?

[Belle Vue Brian @bellevuebrian]

Banking, bends and the Scenic Railway. And is that Soren in the lead? Rock on!

Talking of venues, this one always brings back happy memories for a lot of you. Test matches, BLRC nights or just the Aces v ......

There is a Belle Vue team picture taken in the pits at Hyde Road in which Ivan is wearing a boiler suit over his leathers. Tommy Roper on the bike if I'm not mistaken.

[Dave Hobson 🏁🏁🏁 @HobsonDhobson22]

@UprightSpeedway Never saw Ivan do that though, but you don’t need to if you’re going to be in front!

[Belle Vue Brian @bellevuebrian]

@tomsbfc @UprightSpeedway I think the bike and rider trophy was displayed at the Celebration of Speedway at Paradise Park a few years ago. I'll see if I can find a picture.

[Belle Vue Brian @bellevuebrian]

What a great evening with Peter Collins @NSSCspeedway. And it's just over 49 years (or 17,928 days) since 'You had to be there ...' for the KO Cup run-off on 24 October 1973.

Time (and money) well spent.
Congratulations to Jeff and all in the Save Coventry Speedway team.
And thanks to Rugby Council.

[Peter Oakes @oakes_pe]

Heartiest congratulations to Jeff Davies and his colleagues on @SaveCovSpeedway wonderful victory for the sport of #speedway

[Peter Oakes @oakes_pe]

Fantastic day for speedway Coventry stadium planning permission refused unanimously by rugby planning committee

[David Rowe @daverowe01]

I don’t get emotional too often but the moment this decision was made was certainly one of those times.
So much work has gone into this by such a good team, the Council members did what was right, and the dream of speedway back at Brandon is still alive. Very happy tonight.

This is fantastic publicity for speedway.
Big crowd, glorious scenes, two close, hard-riding finals laced with controversy.
Every race on Eurosport. That has meant great coverage on the BBC, Granada ITV, Manchester Evening News and national papers.
British speedway the winner.
