श्रीनगर - लेह राजमार्ग पर (NH-1) भूस्थैतिक रूप से महत्वपूर्ण जेड-मोड़ टनल का आज जम्मू और कश्मीर के उपराज्यपाल श्री @manojsinha_ जी तथा सड़क परिवहन और राजमार्ग के संसदीय सलाहकार समिति के सदस्य सांसद की उपस्थिति में मुआयना किया।

जम्मू-कश्मीर में 25 हजार करोड़ रुपए की लागत से 19 टनल का निर्माण किया जा रहा है। इसके अंतर्गत 2680 करोड़ रुपए की लागत से 6.5 किमी लंबाई के जेड-मोड़ टनल एवं एप्रोच रोड़ का निर्माण कार्य प्रगति पथ पर है। यह 2-लेन मार्ग टनल कश्मीर के गंदरबल जिले में गगनगीर और सोनमर्ग के बीच पहाड़ी ग्लेशियर थजीवास ग्लेशियर के नीचे बन रही है।

जेड-मोड़ टनल परियोजना के अंतर्गत 10.8 मीटर कुल लंबाई की मुख्य टनल के साथ 7.5 मीटर कुल लंबाई की मॉडिफाइड हॉर्स शू शेप एस्केप टनल, 8.3 मीटर कुल लंबाई की डी शेप वेंटिलेशन टनल, 110 मीटर और 270 मीटर कुल लंबाई की 2 प्रमुख पुलियाँ, 30 मीटर कुल लंबाई की 1 छोटी पुलियाँ प्रस्तावित है। अब तक जेड-मोड़ टनल का 75% काम पूरा हुआ है। दिसंबर 2023 तक इस टनल को लोकार्पित करने का लक्ष्य रखा गया है।

जेड-मोड़ टनल में इंटेलिजेंट ट्रैफिक मैनेजमेंट सिस्टम लगाई गई है, जिससे यातायात को कंट्रोल और सुनिश्चित करना आसान होगा। साथ ही डेडिकेटेड एस्केप टनल से यातायात सुविधाजनक होगी। जेड-मोड़ टनल सोनमर्ग पर्यटन शहर को हर मौसम में कनेक्टिविटी प्रदान करेगी। इस परियोजना के निर्माण कार्य के दौरान जो मलबा निकला है, उसका उपयोग वे-साईड सुविधाएं तथा इलाके को विकसित करने के लिए किया गया है।

जेड-मोड़ टनल का इलाका सामरिक दृष्टि से महत्वपूर्ण है, इसके बनने से श्रीनगर और कारगिल के बीच निर्बाध संपर्क सुविधा सुनिश्चित होगी। साथ ही श्रीनगर और लेह के बीच यात्रा के समय में काफी कमी आएगी। यह टनल पूरे क्षेत्र में सामाजिक और आर्थिक विकास को बढ़ावा देगी। सोनमर्ग में पर्यटन को बढ़ावा देगी जिसमें थजीवास ग्लेशियर और सिंध नदि पर व्हाइटवाटर राफ्टिंग जैसी गतिविधियाँ शामिल है।
