The first episode of my five part radio series Beautiful Strangeness goes out on BBC R4 today. Commissioned back in January and produced by the iconic @LoftusMedia If it's your kind of thing, you can find all five episodes on BBC Sounds. From apparitions to quantum entanglement..
@bbcnickrobinson I thought this was one of the best interviews I have heard in a long time attempting to hold power to account. It was not easy listening but I am glad that the questions were being asked so persistently. Worth the licence fee.
"almost every night...even during his hospitalization, Pope Francis made a daily phone call to the only Catholic parish in the Gaza Strip to check on their safety and offer words of prayer...His last public act...was to call for a ceasefire in Gaza."

@StMichael71 Theologians, of all stripes, have, of course, fallen short of the divine. There is nothing wrong with this but it is important not to take their words as somehow beyond challenge. Christ understood the reality of human nature and its complexity. Mercy and love flower at death.

"There are more people in jail in the UK because they spoke what they thought was right... than there are in Russia."
Ex Trump ambassador Carla Sands claims more people are jailed in the UK for free speech than in Russia. @vicderbyshire questions her sources.
#Newsnight
I was in London today and passed a cafe where someone was reading The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence. There was something profoundly moving about seeing someone reading such rich spirituality in the middle of the busy city. People are hungry for God.
Unimaginable destruction in Gaza: homes, schools, hospitals reduced to rubble.
Survivors tell me we have to bear witness.
And that we must do more: to protect them, to deliver lifesaving aid, to maintain the ceasefire, to help them rebuild.
If we fixate on the light of God we will miss the God who meets us in the shadows of life and in the depths. Our religious language has grown shallow and overly light-filled. We need to recover a the richer language of 'dazzling darkness' and unknowing.
