@KJSAcct Unless you're looking for more advanced options like in-service loans and mega backdoor roth, I've had many clients use Fidelity and Schwab without any problems. Takes a few days to process paperwork. Had clients use MySolo and Employee Fiduciary if wanting more options.
@feelsdesperate GK Chesterton wrote about this general concept, called it distributism. Comes down to broad, individual ownership, Chesterton summarized as 3 acres and a cow.
@nickmeals@CPATaxTeam I've been a member for a year, and it has been a help for me as a small/mostly remote firm in building out a services framework. Also found it to be a good community for sharing knowledge, many successful firms that are generous with advice and resources.
@Taxsavvyjessica I agree, and think a big part of this is low audit rates. It's like a speed limit that's enforced so little that it practically doesn't matter, so most everyone speeds. No fan of complex rules, but clear rules and clear enforcement are foundational.
@tax_birdie@MargoinWNC Yes, my Grandad and Dad both spent much of careers in furniture wholesale, every Spring/Fall in High Point. Grandad began early 70s retired around '99, Dad worked through the offshoring... drastically affected the industry.
@cordes_tax@Taxsavvyjessica I've found this attitude is most common with those who have no business experience. They just haven't seen all the non-obvious costs (money and time) that go into a finished product/service.
@shaneparrish Yes, and the average number of people living in the smaller house was higher. My Dad's family lived in 3 br, 1 ba house with a 6-person household. But they had electricity and indoor plumbing, which was a step up from much of my grandparents' childhood.
