I’m seeing a lot of people push back against the excitement and newfound courage many of us are experiencing in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination. I understand why some may think it’s simply emotionalism, but perhaps I can explain it this way.
Of course, I can only speak for myself, but I’ve also heard others express that this moment has been marked, first and foremost, by deep personal repentance.
Secondly, when I used to speak out against progressive Christianity, I always pictured myself “raising my quivering sword.” By that I mean I knew I had to speak truth, but I didn’t really want to. I wanted to stay anonymous. I wanted to avoid conflict if possible and just say what needed to be said. I would even pray that my content would only reach the necessary audience—no more. I always felt uncomfortable, but I said it anyway. That image of the quivering sword was a good metaphor for me, because it reminded me that even if my sword shook, I was still called to raise it.
But after Charlie’s assassination, the best way I can describe it is this: my sword doesn’t quiver anymore. Some may call that emotionalism—I call it emboldened obedience. And I can take no credit for it. It is all by God’s grace.
Remember when being a musician meant you made music and being an artist means you made art? No?
Pick someone for the Super Bowl that we all like!
Why do I feel like I sound like an old man? I swear I’m not.
I feel like I sound like I’ve had a hip replacement, know when it’s gonna rain by how my knee feels, and can remember where I was when Elvis died.
I watched as 100s even thousands stood to receive Christ when @robmccoyus shared the gospel in @StateFarmStdm…
Opine all you want MBC, that’s what Charlie cared about. People coming to know the one true Jesus.
A friend flagged for me that McLean Bible (David Platt's church) did talk about Charlie Kirk this week. And while pastor Mike Kelsey strongly denounced his murder and those celebrating it (good), he went on to use Charlie as a negative example of how Christians engage unbelievers, citing Charlie as someone whose speech "dishonors" God.
Kelsey also cited Charlie as someone who treated immigrants in "ignorant and derogatory ways."
Kelsey did not offer any examples of what he meant by either of these things.
Amen.
Everyone is born an original, most people die a copy.
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God PREPARED BEFOREHAND that we should walk in them.”
Life is like a treasure hunt to figure out what exactly we were all created by God to do.
Ok. So you know the ‘suit guy’ from that viral video?
Well this is Robby. It turns out Robby follows me.
I got to thinking. Every man should own a decent watch as well as a nice suit. So I sent him one of my Citizens.
It got mailed out today.
Then I figured, why not reach out to my audience and see if anybody has anything they too could hook Robby up with.
A wallet?
Bible?
Nice belt?
Another watch?
Another suit?
__________?
I was so touched by his video and the positive changes he’s decided to make in Charlie’s memory.
I can either broker your donation, or if I know you personally, I can see if he’s ok with you having his address.
Either way we can figure out a way to bless Robby.
He’s a super nice guy.
When Erika Kirk spoke the words on the man who killed her husband: “That man… that young man… I forgive him.” That moment deeply affected me. I have struggled for over 60 years to forgive the man who killed my Dad. I will say those words now as I type: “ I forgive the man who killed my father.”
Peace be with you all.
@AshFarms Your life will never be the same in the absolute best way possible. You have never known love like this. It’s not without hardship or suffering, but all of life is suffering… when you commit your life to Jesus, your suffering now has a purpose.
Rest in peace, Charlie. God will take it from here. He has already done so much good in the week since you left us.
I wanted to focus on that while hosting The Charlie Kirk Show today. Tonight on Glenn TV, my team compiled some of the highlights.
