Refresher:
The Constitution does not specify the number of seats on the Supreme Court. This power was left to Congress, which set the Supreme Court's size at one chief justice and five associates in the Judiciary Act of 1789. It was then legally changed seven times. (thread)
Chances are you've already seen this tweet. It's gone viral many times. Back in October, months before we knew about COVID, Biden pointed out we're not prepared for a pandemic. He was absolutely right. But I also wondered to myself: what did Trump tweet that day? (thread)
@akila_pai@amfeuerbach@gueromedico Hey Akila! So sorry this is delayed! We see this often in the ED and it’s totally reasonable to come in, especially since you’re concerned! I hope it’s better; feel free to be in touch if you need!
@jk_rowling@UN_Women BOTTOM LINE: if you respect science and you respect women's rights, you respect the rights of trans people to be validated and affirmed in our authenticity.
While I have you here, there's an ongoing epidemic of violence against Black trans people. HELP: https://t.co/vTcpL2Of0C
@jk_rowling The vast consensus of medical and other scientific experts validate trans people and urge affirmation of us. Your own country’s medical organizations have said as much.
You don’t love trans people, and certainly don’t care about us.
“Had the NFL continued to support [Colin] Kaepernick all along, the league would be remembered in this moment as a true beacon of progress, rather than a bunch of shameless hypocrites,” @JemeleHill writes. https://t.co/0RLZlJa6Ok
Incredible.
WH made reporters, including myself, sit *closer together* at the president's remarks in the Rose Garden today and *violate the federal government's social distancing policy for the pandemic* because they thought the seating arrangement "looks better."
From @whca:
New Tonight: Disturbing video from @WBFO in Buffalo, NY shows an elderly man walk up to police in riot gear. An officer shoves the man...he falls backwards, hits his head...starts bleeding immediately...motionless.
Why did this happen @BPDAlerts ?
This is the crime of Gang Assault in the Second Degree under New York law. A C level violent felony. Mandatory minimum 3.5 years. Maximum 15 years. Unless you're a cop, in which case you get a promotion.
These are the type of actions I’d expect from past administrations, maybe the current White House, not a mayor who who came into office pledging to reform the type of aggressive policing I experienced tonight.
Ran the count.
My office has gotten 1,987 emails and counting today alone supporting police reform. Hundreds more calls.
I can't overstate how rare and how massive that is for a state legislature. #Repeal50A
