CEOs are quietly realizing the AI replacement plan has a problem.
Two problems, actually.
One: the token costs for running AI agents are now exceeding what they were paying the employees they fired.
Two: when the tokens run out, the AI stops. Just stops. No continuity. No workaround. Just a spinning wheel where your workforce used to be.
You fired humans to save money and bought a subscription that bills you into a corner.
The employees you let go knew what to do when things broke.
The AI just invoices you for the outage.
And then there’s the permission problem nobody wants to talk about.
To do its job, the AI agent needs access. Full access. Your systems, your patents, your contracts, your future plans. Everything you spent years building, handed over to a process that has no loyalty, no discretion, and no skin in the game.
You didn’t hire a replacement.
You gave a stranger with no soul the keys to everything you own.
Enjoy.
Terrible sensationalism by @business
1.) “Cut its dividend”.
—> Yes, from $0.38 to $0.31
2.) “Marked down the value”
—> Yes, by -3.3%
3.) Why didn’t you add to your headline “While Increasing its Net Investment Income”?
—> from $0.38 to $0.39
4.) What about the $100 million stock repurchase plan? Not worthy of a headline either?
This could’ve been your headline: “Board Right-Sizes Dividend, Authorizes Aggressive Buyback, and Management Signals Confidence in Long-Term Value” 🤷🏻♂️

The Fortunes of Africa by Martin Meredith
Martin Meredith follows the fortunes of Africa over 5,000 years. With a compelling narrative, he traces the rise and fall of ancient kingdoms and empires; the spread of Christianity and Islam; the enduring quest for gold and other riches; the exploits of explorers and missionaries; and the impact of European colonization.

I’m on the Senate floor right now urging my colleagues to vote no on the GENIUS Act.
There is no excuse for Congress to pass a crypto bill that will turbocharge Trump’s corruption. https://t.co/qb8wWQ6PUA
It’s now clear that the @realDonaldTrump Administration computed reciprocal tariffs without using tariff data. This is to economics what creationism is to biology, astrology is to astronomy, or RFK thought is to vaccine science. The Trump tariff policy makes little sense EVEN if you believe in protectionist mercantilist economics.
.@SaraEisen you’re undermining the credibility of CNBC with your incessant need to defend this administration. The talent pool that supports making iPhones cannot be found in the US. You owe your viewers facts and not ideology.
