Watching the other projects really made me realize how cool of a thing we were doing. This project made so many changes throughout all of our classmates lives and showed them things they never though they’d learn. I’m extremely proud of what we were able to do! 3/3
Brock Swaney: The showcase was a huge success! Many people were super interested and supportive of our ideas and couldn’t wait until the furniture actually came in. Many administrators came by to watch us present because they had heard about the project from Dr. Duis. 1/2
Many of the adults that came and watches really liked our idea of not only giving the students furniture to sit on, but having furniture that can be productive. The students asked so many good questions about how we were able to do this as a group of students. 2/2
We were asked lots of questions and people who had no idea that our english class does a 20time project, they were amazed by not only us but our other classmates who also did a fantastic job! 2/2
Blakely Carter:
The showcase went so well! We were able to talk to students at our school, teachers, and administrators about how we could impact our commons area with our ideas. We had a trifold with information and lots of pictures discussing our ideas and plans. 1/2
Overall I think the showcase was an amazing idea to present our projects to everyone who didn’t know about it and to show our hard work. Seeing the other projects was super amazing too to see what everyone else accomplished on this project. 3/3
Claudia Blog 7:
The showcase was a huge success! We got to present for so many administrators and people from Bedford County. I was very surprised to see how many students didn’t know about our project and all of the questions they had for us. 1/2
At the beginning, a lot of the students were quiet but then we started getting them talking and they got really interested. A lot of the teachers were very engaged as well. I think the showcase went a little longer than it needed because nobody came towards the end. 2/3
We will not have the furniture for our showcase but will have all the information provided of how it will come to be. We have gathered all our pictures of our schools future furniture ready to present for our showcase. Next week we will be completing the research essay. 2/2
Blog 6 This week we are preparing for our showcase on May 7th to present to our school. As a group, we laid out what we need for our presentation. We got a poster board and discussed with a engineering teacher to make us a 3D model of how our future commons will look like. 1/2
While we have been waiting for things to fall in place, we started creating a layout for our research essay and getting all of the necessary details completed. Next week we will write the essay and hopefully get our orders in! 2/3 Blog #5
Hey everyone!! This week has been the slowest week yet for us. Coming back from spring break, we knew that we needed to get things rolling in order to get the project completed. We were given a price to try and meet before spring break and needed to find the proper furniture. 1
We found all of the furniture we wanted and even have the price under what we were given!! Now it’s time for the approval to order and this project will be on its way. Our audience this week was administration, so we will wait to hear back from them. 2/3

Our goal for this week was getting a finalized idea of what we want and a reasonable budget. We accomplished a lot this week by contacting a company about new furniture and talking to Dr. Calvert about what our school should have! 1/2
Them. Once they approved, we then had to get the “ okay “ from Dr. Duis. He was more than okay with it, he was completely on board! He gave us different catalogs and magazines to look through and decide what’s best for our school. We will keep you guys updated! 2/2
Blog 2: This project has been a big group effort. It has needed approval from many different branches of our school. To get this project going, we first had to email Mr. Norman and Dr. Calvert to see if they are on our side and if we can get approval from 1/2
We quickly realized that choosing what furniture fits best will be more difficult than anticipated. We looked to talk to Dr. Duis for more ideas and suggestions hoping he will be able to help us on our search for a more comfortable commons area for our students.
Blog #️⃣1️⃣➡️ We started off week one by communicating with our head janitor at JF. He was able to supply us with the school furniture catalog that really helped jump start the search for innovative furniture to replace the recently removed benches in our commons area.
