"I spent my time trying to make [computing] better. Not just write code, but find better or at least different ways to do so. Simpler, cleaner, more general, more comprehensible. What's happening today is a complete repudiation of everything I was trying to achieve." -- Rob Pike
No to cuts. Yes to public investment.
That's what @EalingCommIndys stand for. That's why we're backing them in the local elections.
Labour have failed us. On May 7, vote for change.
In 2019, I warned that the NHS was being sold off to private U.S companies.
The media's response? I was peddling Russian propaganda.
One of those companies is Palantir, a company that has enabled genocide in Gaza. We were right then — and we are right now: Kick Palantir out.
There are too many emails. Too many texts. Too many accounts. Too many logins. Too many apps. Too many rewards programs. Too many fundraisers. Too many appointments. Too many virtual meetings. Too many newsletters. Too many forms. Too many social media platforms. My brain hurts.
FFmpeg is moving to Rust 🦀
Our use of C and Assembly in FFmpeg has been an unacceptable violation of safety.
FFmpeg will be running 10x slower - but we're doing it for your safety.
All your videos will appear green - safety first, working software later.
We’ve cut the qubit tax in time for tax season!
We’ve taken a big step toward large scale fault-tolerant quantum computing, squeezing 94 error-detected & 48 error-corrected qubits out of 98 physical qubits, an encoding that turns overhead into headroom.

Is there a theory of quantum error correction (QEC) beyond stabilizer codes? Actually, yes. In https://t.co/Fhx73XF6e4, we give a theory for permutation-invariant codes. Syndromes are Standard Young Tableaus, error correction steps are inverse Schur transforms and more.
Please explain how you would make photovoltaic panels out of lunar rocks. Photovoltaic panels require silicon that is 99.9999 percent pure. Moon rocks are typically around 40 percent silicon dioxide, mixed with numerous other metallic oxides. Please explain how you would extract and purify the silicon, including all steps and required processing materials, and then perform the rest of the manufacturing. Go.
Paper uploaded. We develop a constant-overhead fault-tolerant protocol for quantum input/output using concatenated quantum Hamming codes. The high rate limits noise correlations, enabling much higher fault-tolerant capacities. Joint work with Paula Belzig. https://t.co/H64ObaVrlU
Can we correct errors on quantum codes where qubits randomly inserted or removed? We are not allowed to know where the removals / insertions are. With Lewis Bulled, answer this equation in the affirmative, with permutation-invariant quantum codes. https://t.co/ZYNgaXTzZW
🇩🇪 GERMAN CHANCELLOR ADMITS THEY FUCKED UP THE WHOLE ENERGY THING
Friedrich Merz just plainly admitted: ditching nuclear was "a serious strategic mistake" and Germany's running the world's most expensive energy transition.
"At least 3 years ago we had to leave the last remaining nuclear power plants in Germany on the grid so that we at least had the power generation capacities we had at that time.
We have taken over something that we now have to correct. But we just don't have enough energy generation capacities."
Duh, Herr Kanzler!

🚨 Calling all Your Party members. Urgent vote happening now 🚨
*Do you want Jeremy Corbyn to be leader of Your Party?*
If so, log on to the members portal and vote NO - you do not accept the constitution as amended.
If you want a credible left party that can actually win!
Our motion to explicitly include trans liberation - not just trans rights - was just debated in Conference to overwhelming support from the floor.
Voting is already open and closes at 4 so please vote in favour of this amendment:
