The City is enhancing its Neighborhood Greenways network!
We're doing our part to help provide opportunities for people #inBend to get outside by walking and biking in their neighborhoods -- while practicing #PhysicalDistancing to help prevent the spread of #COVID19.
We completed Tour of #stayhealthystreets tonight. Great way for folks to get out, get active, and maintain safe distance. Now imagine if the segments were connected as part of a cohesive, safe transportation system—it’s possible! Great elements in this program, @CityofBend!

#StayHealthyStreets is the winning name. The @CityofBend is creating pop-up Stay Healthy Streets (Neighborhood Greenways) to increase ways to safely get outdoors for exercise and recreation. https://t.co/RWQaRZhFSK
We’re coming up with a new name for what’s in the works because this is not traditional Open Streets. So far we have, Neighborhood Greenway Extensions and Slow Streets. Suggestions?
Do you remember @bendopenstreets on NE 6th St? Theses temporary designs piloted by @cityofbendoregon became a reality last year. Now we’re going back to open these streets again during the pandemic. Launching next week. #openstreets @commuteoptions
City Manager, Eric King, announced last night at City Council that @CityofBend will be temporarily closing Neighborhood Greenways to nonessential vehicle travel to create safe places for neighbors to get physical activity. The program will start on Monday, April 20th.
@bcsalmon@CityofBend The overall concept is to host this program in multiple locations. With the goal of having it easy to access for local neighbors, which will help discourage gathering. Oakland’s goal is what you mentioned. They’re piloting with 4.5miles & building up to the longer distance.
The Coronavirus pandemic is changing many aspects of how we live, move about our cities and get physical activity. We are working with @cityofbendoregon to support safe physical activity by creating more space for physical distancing. Stay tuned. #openstreets @commuteoptions
Volunteer Intersection SuperHero Training a great success! Thank you so much to our volunteers and a BIG thank you to @WholeFoods for hosting us. #bendopenstreets#inbend
