What ws d logic behind SIR ? Clean up !! This justification behind SIR collapses under its own numbers.
It claims to clean “inflated” rolls. Yet in 9 major states the final lists are still 7.06 crore short of the projected adult population (11.7%).
The shortfalls:
• Gujarat – 93 lakh (17.4%)
• Uttar Pradesh – 2.77 crore (17.1%)
• Chhattisgarh – 28 lakh (13%)
• Bihar – 88 lakh (10.6%)
• Madhya Pradesh – 62 lakh (10.3%)
• Rajasthan – 51 lakh (9%)
• West Bengal – 65 lakh (8.4%)
• Tamil Nadu – 35 lakh (5.8%)
• Kerala – 7 lakh (2.5%)
If the earlier lists were so bloated, why this massive under-enrolment after the “cleanup”?
Genuine voters were deleted. The data leaves no other explanation.

হাওড়া থেকে কলকাতায় ঠাকুর দেখতে এসেছিলো বাবা, মা-র সঙ্গে। চক্রবেড়িয়া রোড (নর্থ)-এ হাঁটছে, হঠাৎ বইয়ের স্টল দেখে এগিয়ে এসেছে। বাবা, মা একটু এগিয়েই গেছে। একটা বই দেখে চিৎকার করে পেছন থেকে বাবাকে ডাকছে, "পাপা পাপা ফ্যাসিজম, পাপা ফ্যাসিজম!"

আমরা অবাক, সঙ্গে মজাও পেয়েছি। কৌতূহলের সঙ্গে তাকিয়ে আছি।

বাবা পিছিয়ে এলেন। ছেলেটা টেবিল থেকে লাল রঙের একটা বই তুলে বাবাকে দিলো। David Ranton-এর "Fascism: Theory and Practice"! বোঝো কাণ্ড!

বাবা কিনেও দিলেন। ডেকে জিগ্যেস করলাম, "কনসা ক্লাস?"
---- "থ্রি"!
---- "ফ্যাসিজমকে বারে মে পড়তে হ্যায় আপ?"
---- "নেহি, কমিউনিজমকে বারে মে!"

আমরা হেসেই ফেলেছি। ওর বাবাও।
তারপর আমাদেরই আবদারে বই হাতে একটা ছবিও তুললো স্টলের সামনে।

এবার হুমকি, হুজ্জুত, হ্যানাত্যানা যাই হোক---- স্টল কিন্তু জমজমাট। অনবদ্য।
