News: @GovNedLamont & @CharleneRTedu are applauding the CT General Assembly for voting to confirm all 7 of the governor’s nominees to the CT State Board of Education.
The Senate approved the nominees on Wednesday, and the House of Representatives confirmed the members earlier this month.
“Alongside our re-appointees and student members, I am confident our newest members will assist in achieving the board’s goal of ensuring that every student is prepared for learning, life, and work beyond school,” @CharleneRTedu said.

In honor of @GovNedLamont declaring Mar. 31 - April 6 as #ParaeducatorWeek in CT, the State Board of Education expressed their gratitude for the important role that paraeducators fill within our schools.
Shellye Davis, Trisha Santos, and 2024 CT Paraecuator of the Year Dawn Dickau were later presented certificates on behalf of the paraeducators they represent.
“Paraeducators are an integral part of our education system,” @CharleneRTedu said, while highlighting the $1.8 million allocated to paraeducator training. “We appreciate everything you do.”
“As recommended in CT’s Unspoken Crisis: Getting young people back on track, we must continue to identify and implement best practices that will improve outcomes for young people experiencing or at serious risk of experiencing disconnection in Connecticut.
We know what is at stake when young people lose connection with their family, community, and education. This is why we must acknowledge when our systems are unable and ill equipped to provide the necessary supports to the ever-evolving needs of young people in Connecticut. I applaud @GovNedLamont, Commissioner-Designate Hill-Lilly, Senator Maher @ccsqrd and Representative @LizLinehan for taking steps to evaluate and then modernize the STTAR program in an effort to enhance the state’s behavioral and mental health continuum of care, and position the system to better provide the services our young people need to thrive.
This work is undeniably complex and requires collaboration, transparency, and system accountability. While today’s announcement highlights the critical need to make system improvements, we must not forget about the incredibly hardworking and dedicated professionals who are working every day to improve the lives of Connecticut’s children and families.”
