@pkd73@kanecornes@1116sen Maybe coincidence. But I don’t rule out someone with a long memory over Sheffield Shield final disallowed at AO last summer doing the scheduling. Whatever the reason, that cricket match was why no Adelaide Oval footy until week 3.
@pkd73@kanecornes@1116sen Hi mate
Reckon I can explain this.
Handover from cricket to footy at AO is March 15. This year that was Sunday of round 1.
Usually cricket isn’t played mid March and there is enough to turn venue around for that 3rd weekend.
This year CA scheduled a WNCL game on Mar 14 1/2
Last of my online contributions covering @AusOpenGolf for @GolfAustMag is below.
Thanks to @JamesSmith1001 for lending me his car keys this week. Not too many scratches I hope.
Who knows they might even let me attack a piece for print next month.

36-hole leader Celine Herbin is chasing Women’s Australian Open glory, but Kooyonga can be tricky. Luckily, Jane Crafter, life member, former champion, and elite analyst, knows every corner. A call to her might be the smartest move yet, reports @benhook1.

Raegan Denton has an ace during the Australian Open Golf and it probably won’t be the most amazing thing to happen to her in the next three weeks.

While Australia’s leading players start as favourites on home soil, a confident wave of contenders from the Ladies European Tour believes the Women’s Australian Open is anything but a closed shop. By @benhook1

@samjacobs24@DSBurtenshaw@Adelaide_FC Cracking post Berty. I was there that night but no recollection it was this early in the year.
There is a story, not yet fully told and possibly apocryphal, about Essendon seeing the enormous crowd and asking for a ton of cash to take the field.

17 years ago today, Cricket Australia chairman of selectors was Andrew Hilditch’s photo was plastered across national newspapers while walking with his family in Sellicks Beach, south of Adelaide.
He had never once explained what really happened, until now.
This is Hilditch’s own story, told for the first time since he was dubbed “Australia’s Loch Ness Monster”
