.@benjadow published research that found a link b/w modern-day #stroke risk & historical redlining, even after controlling for #SDOH. The study reveals how structurally racist policies can influence health outcomes & equity. @EinsteinMed@JAMANetworkOpen https://t.co/WOVZTPHk3b
After controlling for hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, smoking, and other SDOH, redlining was associated with stroke across NYC. Our findings are consistent with the years of research and theory that show structurally racist public policies influence health outcomes.
So excited to finally share this! Feeling grateful to have had the opportunity to make a small contribution to the health disparities and #SDoH literature. Please give our paper a read! #redlining#stroke#MedTwitter#neurotwitter
Structural racism in the form of historical housing discrimination known as “redlining” is associated with higher stroke prevalence in NYC communities, even after controlling for classic stroke risk factors and other social determinants of health. https://t.co/zdnGZIfxN5
