I still remember the online theobros mocking me for hosting an anti-sports gambling event with pastors at my church last year. Texas was at the time contemplating the expansion of sports gambling. "Read the room," they said (meaning their own group chats and bro portion of the internet). I was reading the room. College and student pastors telling me how deep the sports gambling problem is. What generates outrage and revenue on this site isn't always the real problem people are facing.
"Fellas. When you go home, tell our folks that we did our best. That they may have many more tomorrows" - written on a K-ration box on Iwo Jima
I am a recipient of their sacrifice and I am grateful.
I preached from Joshua 20 this past Sunday. One of the things that permeates this chapter is how much God values life. I’m grateful for @ERLC leadership on defunding planned parenthood. Join your name to the cause: https://t.co/smVTARyndh

Today at church we commissioned a young couple to be missionaries to an undisclosed location overseas. They became Christiana thru our college ministry to @TCU a few years ago. This is the good stuff.

What an encouragement to have @DrPaulChitwood with us at Travis Avenue today. I am thankful for his leadership and our partnership with @IMB_SBC in sending to the nations. Asking God to send more from Travis.
The Paris Olympics start this weekend, and your IMB missionaries have been hard at work to make the most of this God-given moment, preparing for opportunities to share the gospel with the nations!

Much of Perkins’ style and methodology can be traced to previous influences, but he solidified the plain preaching style in demonstration and book form. Because of this, he is known as the “Father of Puritanism.”

IMB sending is my favorite part of the SBC annual meeting. Over 80 sent to the nations. Many of them going to places with security concerns so we see their shadow as we hear their story. We may not see them, but what a joy to know God does and we are partners in sending.
