I’ve met children with down syndrome that have literally surprised the hell out of me. Just unexpected responses to questions and interactions that blew my mind. One referred to life as the greatest gift she’d ever received. Another I asked “How are you?” in the most nonchalant way and she answered “happy!” with an enormous smile. They warm my heart in a way that consistently surprises, educates and delights me. They’re truly God’s children.
