Talking to independent physicians, it's obvious that the big insurance carriers are doing to them, what their PBMs are doing to independent pharmacies.
They deny, underpay, slow pay, clawback, and create administrative mazes, knowing their victims don't have the time or resources to fight.
Why ? By putting financial pressures on physicians and pharmacies, it makes them more likely to sell their businesses to them , close their doors, or refer the business to their captive pharmacy or provider. All benefitting the biggest insurance companies
We need to ditch the concept of "claims" and make every delivery of medications or care as a billable event that must, by law, be paid on a timely basis , with interest charges for any delays. If the physician or pharmacy doesn't deliver , the carrier has plenty of legal options already. As does the patient.
This is not an efficient market. This is the big guy abusing the little guy. It needs to change to better the care we get in this country
@kevinmyoung Capitlism prioritizes personal agency. Both mirror the kingdom in different ways. If we are picking between the two, I would argue capitalism more fundamentally mirrors the kingdom by focusing on agency, leaving space for individual responsibility which socialism undermines.

@kevinmyoung Jesus gave unwarranted charity through his death, encouraging followers to sacrifice for others. Believers are invited to submit to the Lord’s will, trusting the Spirit with outcome. Socialism compels sacrifice and re-allocates based on human wisdom. Very different.

In this EAST Traumacast, Dr. Carrie Valdez (@carrievaldezmd) and Dr. Lauren Dudas (@ldel302) discuss the details about a geriatric trauma program with Dr. Ben Gayed (@BenjiGMD) and Kathy Smith. What does it entail? What are the benefits? https://t.co/BD76LxGh8Q
@carrievaldezmd@EAST_TRAUMA @EAST_Traumacast @pferrada1@LibbyMD823 @kathycrystal14 @PMartinezMD@ldel302@talleycindy1 After implementing that protocol, ED return hospital readmission rates both decreased in this population. Unplanned ICU admission rates also decreased. 6 month post injury mortality also dropped nearly in half. Observational data from @kathycrystal14 but still encouraging.
For this month’s #EASTMemberChat, we partner with the Online Education Committee to ask, “How has your trauma program changed to improve care for the geriatric patient?” Check out the @EAST_Traumacast about geriatric trauma and join the conversation: https://t.co/AfmxqX5WGU
@JJcolemanMD I don’t usually respond to controversial tweets, but this one is too hard to let stand. I am sorry, but this represents a character flaw or a taste bud defect. You might need professional help 🤣
@EAST_Traumacast @kathycrystal14 @ldel302@carrievaldezmd@EAST_TRAUMA @EAST_ICVP Very much appreciate the opportunity! Our geriatric patient population is only going to grow over the next few decades. Happy to help think about how to improve #geritrauma care.
Recent trauma patient with massive resuscitation. +20L in the first 6 hrs, otherwise healthy. I was surprised when Ppeak was only 24 post-op. Then I remembered chest was open. Never considered a high pressure thorax could be decompressed... not proposing utility just observing.
