Former Ateneo Blue Eagle Chibueze Ikeh called on his former coach, Tab Baldwin, to speak out about what he said really happened in the drowning incident that claimed the life of his friend, Divine Adili.
Ikeh said stamina training was a regular part of the team's program during his time with Ateneo, but declined to comment further as investigations into the incident remain ongoing.

@de_dustx nothing. the og tweet could've been phrased more clearly, but the argument is about the timing. why would you post an igs basically saying you're looking forward to the season when your teammates just passed, and when the very reason behind it was the negligence of your team?
ik this could've been phrased more clearly, but the argument is about the timing, not the dedication itself. there's literally context as to why people aren't happy about it. why would you post an ig story basically saying you're looking forward to the season when your teammates-
Absolutely disgusting that one ADMU player dedicating this season for their dead teammate. My God, is there an ounce of sensitivity and empathy from this kid. Live outside your basketball life kiddo.
- just passed, and when the very reason behind it was the negligence of your team? he didn't even wait a day. it would've been a different story if the team had no responsibility for what happened to them.
@natzuology@DaRealRobiRaya@peppermintpex mismo! ang dating kasi, atat na atat nang maglaro. hindi man lang pinaabot ng isang araw. halos kakabalita pa lang na wala na ang mga teammate nila, laro agad?
@DaRealRobiRaya - wala pa ngang humaharap galing ateneo sa nanay noong mga oras na yun. it's not an attempt to take away their dreams. napaka-OA naman. it's one thing to give them grace kasi baka na-trauma sila sa nangyari, pero hindi rin naman mali na i-call out yung pagiging insensitive nila.
Coach Jess has stood as Rene Baterbonia's second father -- having coached him for the past six years in Ateneo de Davao and DAVRAA.

diba? isa o dalawang oras pa nga lang nakalipas nun. malamig pa ang bangkay, tapos basketball kaagad ang naisip. parang malabo ding kumanta yan, coaching staff tatay eh. pero sana mali ako.
@volleybagan Nakakadismaya at this point ang iniisip pa ay ang magchampion sa Uaap, this is bigger than basketball, buhay ng kateammate mo nawala. Para sabihin mo na para sa yo ang season is just insensitive, gamitin mo boses to shed light sa nangyari wag puro basketball!
Loss of life (young life at that) brought about by avoidable circumstances that the victims were exposed to by authority figures that were supposed to care and nurture them - is a tragedy that requires accountability. No it wonโt bring back Divine and Rene, but we cannot allow people in power to be protected when their authority and status were wielded to put young men in precarious situations that took their lives. Thereโs anecdotes on record of precedent, thereโs a grieving mother asking for the most basic details amid official statements saying they are โworking closelyโ with the families.
Investigate this to the fullest. Basketball is by no means more important than protecting our young people, most especially those who come from backgrounds that force them and their families to look at a roster spot, game minutes, a coaching staffโs favor and approval - as tickets to a better life.
Pay close attention to who says what, if anything at all. If youโre not enraged by the avoidable accident that took the lives of two young men, if your instinct is to protect an institutionโs reputation over condemning those responosible for two boys dying, if you would rather be silent because youโre worried about relationships or your place in the industry, then youโre part of the problem.
This was avoidable. This was negligent. Itโs only basketball, ffs. There are people responsible. Hold them accountable.
ina mo jun manzo. alam mo dapat yung hirap ng players na galing pang probinsya bilang taga probinsya ka rin. nakuha mo pa magbiro sa lahat ng nagyayari sa pamilya nila? asan yung utak mo?
