@LordIxabert So it's possible that if you encounter older texts from the 18th century or so, that these words were still used. Since Gustavus III the language has declined, really. Pronunciation back then was very much superior to what it is now, and has certainly been vulgarized.

@LordIxabert No, not anymore at least. The Swedish word now is du, which originally in "old-new Swedish", in use formally ~ 1530-1730, comes from the word thu, basically the same as English. The word "den" meaning "the" originally was also "then" in Swedish. Av=of. Was also originally "af".

@LordIxabert Id say its like a more refined but poorer developed German. The words are similar but sound completely different. I can understand German quite well if it’s written for example, but if it’s spoken I can grasp a few words at best.
