What is independence actually worth to Albertans?
We're kicking off our Value of Freedom Series by asking the question that matters most: What is the tangible value of an independent Alberta?
Over the coming posts, we'll break down the real numbers behind independence, from the billions in annual federal contributions that could stay home, to an Alberta Pension Plan, lower taxes, and a future shaped by Albertans, for Albertans.
But this isn't only about dollars. It's about the freedom to act on our own values, culture, and ambitions, and to build a self-determined future on our own terms.

Alberta’s geography is not a weakness. It is a strength.
We sit beside the largest economy in the world, with the shortest and lowest-cost trade routes to our most important customer.
The problem is not geography.
The problem is Ottawa control.
Alberta can do better. https://t.co/70SdJ6CVcj
The United States is not an abstraction. It is the largest customer for Canadian goods and one of the greatest sources of jobs and wealth in our provinces.
Provincial leaders who attack and shame that customer are playing politics with other people’s livelihoods.
Strong leadership means defending provincial interests firmly, respectfully and intelligently.
Citizens deserve diplomacy—not childish provocation with the economic partner upon whom so much of their prosperity depends.
If Alberta oil gives Canada leverage against Washington, imagine the leverage it gives Alberta in negotiations with Canada.
Today they want to borrow our strongest economic card.
At the independence table, Alberta will hold it. https://t.co/6KggCRVc1E

🚨 BREAKING 🚨
Elections Alberta has officially determined that the petition seeking a potential referendum on Alberta independence was successful.
Here are the numbers:
✅ 286,593 signatures submitted
✅ 279,337 signatures counted as valid
✅ 222,597 verified through statistical sampling
✅ Only 177,732 verified signatures were required
Elections Alberta also reported 292 duplicate signatures and rejected others because of incomplete addresses or missing elector and witness declarations.
And what about those accusations involving fake or “seeded” names?
Elections Alberta says it found ZERO seeded names during its screening process.
Once again, the accusations generated plenty of outrage, but the evidence did not back them up.
You don’t have to support Alberta independence, but you cannot deny that hundreds of thousands of Albertans followed the democratic process and made their voices impossible to ignore.
The petition succeeded. The numbers are verified. Now the conversation moves forward.

Alberta,
Remember when Preston Manning said, "The West wants in," then Jason Kenney said, "We're demanding a fair deal now for Alberta," followed by Danielle Smith, who said, "Enough of their screw the West, we'll take the rest mentality"?
We do.
It's finally time to do something about it.
Vote Option 2 on October 19th.

B.C. says it deserves an annual royalty because Alberta oil crosses its territory.
Approximately 900,000 import containers travel east through Alberta every year.
A reciprocal formula would be simple:
For every $1 per barrel B.C. charges Alberta oil, Alberta charges B,C, about $900 per container.
Same principle.
🎉 CONGRATULATIONS, STAY FREE ALBERTA! 🎉
@stayfreealberta
A major milestone has been reached! The Stay Free Alberta petition has officially been counted and certified, achieving an impressive 95% integrity rate.
This is an important step in Alberta's democratic process and reflects the efforts of thousands of Albertans who participated in the petition campaign.
🗳️ Now the decision is in your hands.

This is not a Western Accord.
A Western Accord would restore Alberta’s freedom to produce, build, export, and compete.
This is conditional permission — with invoices attached our kids will have to pay.
Carbon costs.
Pathways costs.
Taxpayer debt.
B.C. royalties.
Enough.
Alberta’s done waiting. Alberta can do better.
It is unfortunate that every single CEO of an energy co with operations in Alberta cannot find the intestinal fortitude that this individual has.
SPEAK UP!
Ottawa has allowed Alberta’s greatest strengths to be treated as bargaining chips for others.
Energy. Corridors. Markets. Tax dollars. Investment.
The “landlocked” argument ignores the fact that B.C. also depends on Alberta.
Independence means Alberta can negotiate from reality — not from fear.
