Was so glad to see @lyman_brian's name on the screen during the Pulitzer announcements today. One of the finest journalists in the South. So well-deserved, congrats, Brian!
Congrats to the 2024 #Pulitzer winners & finalists announced today!
A special congrats to @lyman_brian, who was a commentary @PulitzerPrizes finalist for "incisive columns that challenge a range of state policies flouting democratic norms and targeting vulnerable populations."
Congratulations to @statesnewsroom's @lyman_brian, editor of the @ALReflector, for being named a finalist for the 2024 Pulitzer Prize in Commentary. Your colleagues are full of pride today!

Congratulations to @lyman_brian, my former Advertiser colleague, for being a named a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Commentary. I always knew he’d be an excellent columnist who’d bring a much-needed view through his years covering Alabama politics. https://t.co/49pVN5vaMt
Bursting with pride that two of the best, most thoughtful and kindest journalists I know were just named Pulitzer finalists. Truly thrilled for @lyman_brian at @ALReflector and Nicole Hester from the @Tennessean team.
Has @ALEAprotects offered any information on yesterday’s shooter in #Dadeville yet? Had to tell my son that one of his elementary schoolmates is fighting for her life in the hospital right now. But simply no info on the person who put her there. #shameful
Alabama has the fifth-highest rate of firearm deaths in the nation and the third-highest homicide rate. Editor @lyman_brian writes that we've allowed a small group of paranoid people to shape a world where guns are inescapable. https://t.co/zw0pdccFYo #alpolitics
What happened in Dadeville didn't happen in a vacuum.
The number of gun deaths among children in the United States increased by 50% in just two years. The study found that 1,680 children under the age of 18 died from firearm injuries in 2021, compared to 1,120 in 2019.
A terrible statistic from @ALReflector as they cover this mass shooting: "Alabama has one of the highest deaths from firearms in the country, behind only Mississippi, Louisiana, Wyoming and Missouri, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention."
@CrimsonMama15@lyman_brian@JK_Stephenson@rchapoco@alanderrocha In their defense, the cops are saying nothing. If you’re looking for speculation, you’ll need to find it elsewhere. There’s plenty if you’re into that. Otherwise, welcome to the frustration.

Alabama is one of three states that still fully taxes groceries, adding up to 10% to a food bill. As @rchapoco reports, calls for repeal are coming from liberal and conservative groups, though for different reasons.
