@JewishWonk I take your point, but to be fair, one of them went to the West Bank and was shot and killed by the IDF. And a whole lotta Jewish kids took the summer off too, when they should have been doing what? I just don’t think this is the burn you think it is.
@RabbiWolpe@KamalaHarris You need to get off the apps and meet some Americans. There’s a whole country out there that has concerns about their world that you’ve maybe forgotten about.
The ICJ decision is a completely correct and obvious interpretation of international law. A military occupation is legal, but only if it is temporary. Israel has built settlements throughout the West Bank, created a regime of creeping annexation, and has made it its policy never to have a Palestinian state.
Worse yet, it is not offering the residents of the West Bank citizenship while actively undermining their autonomous government. How can anyone justify this? It is time for Israel to realize that the occupation is unsustainable, illegal, and immoral.
You can call the ICJ antisemitic for interpreting the law and reality correctly. But by doing so, you are just cheapening the term and making Jews everywhere look ridiculous. It is time to move towards a two-state solution and end this travesty.
These are near-daily scenes in Rafah of children being killed & maimed by IDF bombardment. What was the target here? Was there no awareness of children's presence? Was a deliberate decision made to conduct the strike because the target was worth civilian casualties? Or did the field commander/targeting analysts and staff not care? This is all happening before the much-anticipated assault on Rafah - imagine how much worse it's going to get for civilians who have nowhere else to go. Hamas is a criminal and is absolutely to blame for starting the war and refusing to release the hostages - but the Israeli military can't keep killing children with impunity and without any consequences - this has got to stop now.
💥See @IsraelPolice, operating as thuggish Minister Itamar Ben Gvir's private militia, visit the home of a Jerusalem anti-Netanyahu activist they suspected of dyeing a downtown fountain red. Total destruction.
Those who hate Israel will also hate this. Those who blindly support the aberration into which Israel has morphed will be outraged. Neither need waste time, unless it is to make each, respectively, feel more righteous.
Everybody else would be well advised to heed his words.
Last week I had the privilege of taping a conversation with Ali Abu Awwad for TED. If you have a few minutes to watch or listen, I look forward to your thoughts.

I just watched it and they did a great job with the editing. The first 4-5 minutes are slower, but then it gets much better. I don't think I regret anything I said. If you have a few minutes to watch, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thank you!
Some people have asked why I seem to be angrier at Netanyahu than at Hamas. What can I say? I loathe Hamas. And that should be obvious. But Hamas is not *mine* in any way. And what is ours—and what we can affect—often makes us angrier than what is not. I hope that makes sense.
@rabbiadler@JoshMalina Fair enough. You win! I’m just saying arguing who get’s to be a Jew/American and how to do it is something that is intrinsic to the texts written hundreds of years ago that we continue to debate today. These aren’t new problems or ideas.
@rabbiadler@JoshMalina This is an awesome point! But I think it’s like saying that the Constitution boils down to what it means to be an “American”. Like the Talmud, it’s a living document that we will reinterpret for generations to come. Some will use the text to exclude, others will use it to include
