Local Hunters Rescue Kidnap Victim in Ondo, Neutralise Three Suspected Kidnappers

In a successful operation, local hunters working with security operatives have rescued a victim from suspected kidnappers. According to the Ondo State Police Command, the operation was carried out in Ikare, Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State .

The police spokesperson confirmed that the combined team of operatives and hunters responded to a report of abduction and engaged the kidnappers in a fierce gun battle. The operation resulted in the neutralisation of three suspected kidnappers, and two suspects, identified as Yahaya Isa (20) and Ismail Ismail, were arrested .

The victim, Mr. Tijani Aremu, was rescued unharmed and has since been taken to the hospital for medical examination . The police spokesperson commended the local hunters for their bravery and collaboration, stating that the operation demonstrates the effectiveness of community partnership in tackling insecurity .

OPERATION HADIN KAI RESCUE 360 NGOSHE ABDUCTEES FROM JAS TERROR-GROUP STRONGHOLD IN THE MANDARA MOUNTAINS

In one of the most significant hostage rescue operations conducted in the North East Theatre in recent times, troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), comprising Special Forces and troops of Sector 1, have successfully rescued 360 abductees from a heavily fortified Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) enclave deep within the Mandara Mountains area of southern Borno State. The operation, which was the culmination of weeks of painstaking intelligence preparation, covert reconnaissance, and operational planning, resulted in the safe recovery of men, women, and children who had been held in captivity under harsh conditions after being abducted from several communities, particularly within the Ngoshe axis. The successful rescue underscores the growing operational reach, intelligence dominance, and tactical superiority of OPHK in denying terrorists freedom of action and protecting vulnerable populations across the theatre.

The operation was initiated following the receipt of credible and corroborated intelligence from multiple sources indicating the precise location of the hostages and the existence of an elaborate insurgent support network sustaining the enclave. OPHK intelligence elements subsequently launched an extensive target development process involving the integration of Human Intelligence (HUMINT), Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), and persistent Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations conducted through unmanned aerial systems and long-range reconnaissance patrols. A decisive breakthrough was achieved through the successful penetration of the terrorist network by carefully cultivated intelligence assets operating under the supervision of OPHK military intelligence personnel. These assets provided timely and actionable intelligence regarding the exact locations of the abductees, the disposition of insurgent commanders, internal security measures, and planned relocation routes. Supported by real-time ISR feeds, assault forces infiltrated the objective area under the cover of darkness while blocking forces established positions along likely escape routes. The operation achieved complete tactical surprise, overwhelming the terrorists before an organised response could be mounted. Faced with the speed, precision, and overwhelming combat power of the advancing troops, several insurgents abandoned their positions and fled into surrounding mountainous terrain, while others surrendered. The hostages were swiftly secured, medically screened, and evacuated from the objective area. Regrettably, two infants succumbed to exhaustion occasioned by the extremely challenging mountainous terrain and the hardships endured during their prolonged captivity

Police rescue ex-Power Minister Adelabu’s sister, nephews

The Nigeria Police have rescued the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, alongside her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, during a coordinated operation.

According to reports, the rescue was carried out on Saturday, following sustained intelligence-led tracking and tactical pressure on the kidnappers.

Security sources said the operation led to a fierce exchange of gunfire between police operatives and the kidnappers.

During the confrontation, two suspected kidnappers were neutralised, while two firearms were recovered from the gang.

The victims were successfully freed alive after the operation, bringing relief to their family and the public following days of uncertainty.

The victims were abducted on June 3, 2026, at about 7:30 a.m. while on their way to drop the children at school.

The incident had sparked widespread concern, particularly due to the profile of the family involved and the rising cases of kidnappings in parts of the country.

Security operatives have continued combing nearby areas in search of fleeing members of the kidnapping syndicate.

According to police sources, some of the suspects are believed to have escaped with gunshot injuries sustained during the exchange.

Authorities say efforts are ongoing to track down the remaining members of the gang and dismantle the network behind the abduction.
