@tc400@bphillipsonMP Do you really think teachers clock off at 3:30? Most teachers I know work from 8am to 5pm in school, and then have paperwork, planning and marking that gets done in the evenings and weekends. And yes, they have long "holidays", but most are doing more work during the holidays too
@Shilojo Aside from salaries, heating and increased costs for supplies, they are also now often providing breakfasts to deal with kids arriving ill-prepared for school. :(
@TreeHouseBkshop @doylematthew@mrCarlWoodward 20 years ago I did in London. Cheap tickets (Β£10) could be had, at fringe venues, but sometimes also at full West End theatres. It was, on an hourly basis, cheaper than drinking in a pub.
@flaming__june@CaoimheMMC "Claimed for the people"? It's the only sports facility for a *state* school with 1300 secondary pupils plus two primary schools. Why would you want to take that away from them?
@jenstirrup Jen, you were always an inspiration, both as one of the best technologists I have come across in my career, and as an active, *leading* ally in the D&I space. You will continue to inspire and bring change to the global technology community and beyond.
@TATTOOEDCRMGUY @sympmarc@andrewjolly@LucyAliceBourne@KeithWhatling At $40/user/year it is actually pretty hard to make the case in a large org. Say you have 250k users worldwide. That means the core IT function has to find $100m+ every year. That would fund a lot of development teams who could be building stuff...
@sympmarc @TATTOOEDCRMGUY @andrewjolly@LucyAliceBourne@KeithWhatling Marc is right on this: I know of at least 4 Fortune 50 size orgs that have held off powerapps because of the licencing cost (and confusing messaging from MSFT field) this year.
@rydermc @sanjitchudha I remember seeing NF tags in Islington in the 80s, and I heard many of my classmates getting racially abused, even in a very diverse school. Also, "gay" was a term of abuse for anyone showing the slightest aptitude in lessons.
@EnvAgency@ckm1974 I got this too. Given I live on the very top of a hill 50m above the Thames in se London I think your algorithm might need tweaking.
@MartinHatch@UKLabour "He reckons he has planted more than 2m trees in his 12-year career. Out since dawn, he has planted about 2,000 so far today, plucking the two-year old sitka saplings from bags around his waist, then prodding them into the hole he makes with a deft twist of the planting spade."
@MartinHatch@UKLabour 2m in 12y means about 600 people planting to get 100m p.a. Let's call it 1000, counting managers. Very achievable. Land and supply chain would be the barrier, not manpower.
@MartinHatch@UKLabour One bloke in Northumberland planted over 2 million by himself in 12 years, so while it is ambitious it is likely to be achievable. One state in India planted 50m in a day.
