Remember me as a man who tried.
Not a god,
not an angel,
nor anything divine
just a man who walked through darkness
yet kept reaching for the light.
A man who chose to lessen sorrow,
to leave more good than grief behind;
who saw greatness in others
and sought to pass it down the line.
A man who dared to speak,
to read, to write, to reason;
who learned to love with purpose
and stand for what was right.
A man who worked to break his bounds,
to build his family a home;
who fell beneath the weight of life
but rose and carried on.
Remember me as a man of peace,
a seeker of joy,
imperfect in my ways,
but faithful to the choice.
Not a man without darkness,
but one who searched for light.
Remember me simply as a man who tried
who lived, who loved, who fought, in other to make his lie count.
