hello, we have seen a clip of YJ going around and we wanted to explain the nuance of the word “sexy”. it’s understandable as to why people feel uncomfortable by it because to many of us, the word “sexy” carries a sexual undertone. however, the word “sexy” in korea carries a significantly less sexual undertone and is rather used as calling someone attractive, handsome and/or cool. we would never defend something that is wholeheartedly weird. we won’t bash those who feel uncomfortable because again, most people aren’t aware that the term carries different undertones.
there are already many statements and explanations out there worth reading, especially from native and fluent korean speakers, so i don’t think i need to repeat everything that’s already been said. if anything, my message is more so to hopefully encourage people to take the time to listen to them before deciding where they stand.
