Impressive. This set of talks, along with the new America dot gov website, has the unmistakable feel of an Apple launch event. They're rebooting the federal government as a tech startup. Several observations.

(1) First, with this new AI interface to the entire federal government, if it works as promised, there won't be a single American who can't say their life wasn't helped at least in part by AI, or that the benefits accrued solely to zillionaires. This in itself cannily mitigates anti-datacenter sentiment.

(2) Second, Joe Gebbia and Marco Rubio's talks on simplifying name changes and passport filings introduce a completely new era where the US government is actually launching tangible features that benefit users.

(3) Third, this launch event in and of itself may visibly drive reform. It could become much more important than the State of the Union. Unlike laws, code is user-visible, and can be instantly audited by the public, as Obama found out with the failed obamacare website launch. So: the annual America dot gov event may be substance, whereas SOTU is traditionally optics. I wouldn't be surprised to see the President present at the next one.

(4) Fourth, this kind of event is a perfect example of where tech and red cooperate best. They both hate bureaucracy. Automating paperwork with code reduces the power of statists over both capitalists and nationalists. It's also hard to undo by other admins: once you digitize a process, hard to turn it back to paper.

(5) Fifth, it's an obvious point perhaps, but think about how much influence YCombinator has had in 20 years. From Gebbia's Airbnb joining their 2009 batch to a complete overhaul of the user interface of the US bureaucracy, and thus the US government.

(6) Sixth, this is another take on the network state. The functional part of the US (the network, meaning tech) is merging with and partially reforming the dysfunctional part (the state, meaning bureaucracy) by automating 20th century paper forms.

As a tech startup, there will no doubt be bugs and user issues and so on, but unlike with paper laws those issues will be visible and the code fixes will be verifiable. A new era of AI America. Rooting for them.

The gospel presentation does not begin with:

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.”

You have sinned against a holy God. You stand condemned under His righteous judgment. You cannot save yourself, and apart from Christ, you will face His wrath for eternity.

That is the bad news.

And you need to hear the bad news before you can understand the good news.

The gospel is not that God has a better life waiting for you.

The gospel is that Christ came to save sinners from the wrath they rightly deserve.

He lived the righteous life you could never live.

He died the death you deserved to die.

He bore the wrath of God in the place of His people.

He rose from the grave.

And everyone who repents and believes in Him is justified, forgiven, and reconciled to God.

Don’t soften the bad news and you won’t have to dilute the good news.

The glory of grace shines brightest against the darkness of our sin.

The Christians of Nigeria have been pushed to the brink, as Islamic terrorists come into their communities night after night with murder in their hearts & slaughter men, women & children, They are protesting here because the army does not help them. For more then 20 years since the first rural village was attacked, the govt of Nigeria has done little or worse: sometimes their leaders collaborate with the killers & stand by while women & children are hacked or burned alive. If the Christian villlagers arm themselves to defend their families, they are arrested & charged as vigilantes because there are no gun rights in Nigeria. So these people wait in their homes for terror to come to their doors. Their churches are burned down, their pastors tortured & killed, yet amidst the ruins they rise, their faith stronger than ever. Christ lives in their hearts, he rises in their pain & he echoes in their voices. God is good. Comfort these brave people, pray for them & speak for them. Those who deny this genocide are as vile as those coming to their humble homes to slaughter the innocent. They carry the black flag of al Qaeda & scream “Allahu akbar” as they maim & murder, while the left & the globalists provide cover for them & deny the truth. Sound familiar? It should. Same playbook, same people.

It's crazy how many stars in the film industry quietly hate the woke stuff. It's tough when normal people rightly believe that celebrities should avoid politics, but the crazy ones like Midlife Mark Ruffalo can't stop vomiting commie gobbledygook every day. Asymmetric war.

The world has a very specific kind of dead body it knows how to mourn. These are not it.

A Christian community in North Africa is putting its people into the ground after another Islamist massacre, and most of the West will never learn their names.

There will be no campus encampment, no urgent panel, no celebrity caption. The same institutions that can produce a slogan in an hour when the victims fit the script go quiet when the killers are men who actually say they are doing it for their “god”.

This is not a tragedy that fell out of the sky. It is a method.

Churches, villages, families, then a trench, then a burial, then silence until the next one. If your moral system only activates when Israel is in the frame, it is not a moral system. It is a filter.

Watch it. Then ask why this footage never travels.
