@MonteMcNaughton@Pipe_Trades Hey Monte - my dad was a tradesperson. Guess what he encouraged me to do in life... to get an education. Nimble minds like you don't value education. Trades are important. So are society's professionals that require higher education. I don't appreciate your rhetoric.
@KevinSmithUHN@UHN The solution is HR and senior mgmt need to meet with frontline workers to hear their concerns. The ugly and the good. Reset the culture. Actively listen and allow staff to be part of the solution. Morale is low in public Healthcare. I trust good leaders can lead change.
@Sflecce Thank you to the Federal Liberals for making these dollars available and shame on provincial PCs for taking >11 months to give it to Ontarians. The rest of the provinces acted promptly. Not Ontario PC. Another indication of poor PC leadership.
@tgeoffroy You are so right, when there is trust and respect within any team - it shows up in the work the team accomplishes. How I wish this could be fostered more in all deptartments. Keep up the great work Foundation team!
$5.5B is what @fordnation has held onto instead of:
-Paying nurses and PSWs fair wages
-Paid sick days
-$10-a-day childcare
-Raising the rates of ODSP/OW
-Clearing surgeries and procedures backlogs
-Affordable housing for all
& so much more.
We deserve better, Ontario. #onpoli
Where does all my tax money go. I pray that our administrators in Healthcare, education and social services allocate resources appropriately and not into their personal pockets. It is evident that poor leadership by the Ford gov't trickles down to all levels.
So...Ontario underspent by $5.5 billion this year: On health care by $1.3 billion. On social supports (e.g. ODSP) by $1.1 billion. On education by $212 million.
But...they're planning to spend $6 billion to build a new highway?
It’s a question of priorities.
I had 500 goals in my hockey career too playing for Blessed Trinity, St. Margaret’s, Shoppers Drug Mart, Rays Auto Body Shop, Belmore Construction, De La Salle and my University intramural teams The Bethune Dragons. Trust me it’s a big deal. Congrats Sidney. Welcome to the club.
1. Some thoughts on the truckers.
One question that inevitably arises during mass protests is whether they will succeed or fail. Success is often defined by those asking the question as "will the demands of the protestors be granted by those in power".
The federal govt, based on number of children in Ontario, has $10.2 billion to give to Ontario govt for childcare. The feds are waiting for a plan by @Sflecce@fordnation. The only province to not roll this out is Ontario. A real pity for parents & children that could benefit.
Here's a very quick reminder before I dash off - Ontario remains the ONLY province in all of Canada that is yet to sign the $10/day childcare deal with the federal government.
And then its been said that uncle Dougie paid Bell execs $122 million that those execs used to simply fill their pockets. Monies are available for a better society but better is not possible when administrators/those in power are greedy.
One of the first things the Ford government did after taking power in 2018 was cut $335 million annually to mental health services in Ontario. Actions speak louder than words and yearly videos for #BellLetsTalk. #onpoli
