The media has no interest in the incel's beliefs about Zionists and Jews in the same way that it had no interest in Yves Engler's beliefs when he was an NDP leadership candidate. This stuff is rampant on the Left now, and there's no interest in addressing it because of a combination of pathetic cowardice and the fact that much of the media is left wing and either agrees with it or isn't fundamentally bothered by it.

The reporters and pundits are not going to write this stuff or repost it, but they're not going to expose or condemn it either. Many are happy that other people are expressing what they believe. Others are cowards who don't want to confront the bigots in their tent. That's all there is to it.

If the Jewish claim to Israel is insufficient despite ancient origins, continuous presence, religious attachment, legal land purchases, international recognition, and the creation of a functioning society, then what claim would be sufficient?
And if no conceivable Jewish claim could ever be sufficient, then perhaps the argument is not really about standards at all. Perhaps it reflects a discomfort with Jewish sovereignty itself—an idea many believed history had settled but which increasingly appears to be under review.

This doesn't make sense: "resulting in genocide" is not a logical phrase as genocide requires specific intent to destroy a protected group, as such.

We really need people to ask more questions and not blindly accept a biased report from a biased commission appointed by a biased council.

The history of the Holocaust is the history of the Jewish people. The horrors, once one learns of them, are almost incomprehensible. The suffering reverberates across generations. This history--and the pain it carries--should be honored.

Critically, the history of the Holocaust is also the history of the Nazis. Of the German people. Of Europeans and Europe more broadly. It is the history of Western Civilization. The same societies that produced the Enlightenment planned and/or collaborated in the mass murder of 6 million Jews.

And even more than that, the Holocaust is the history of humankind. Of the human mind, and, if you believe in such things, the human soul.

This is what my father taught me, when educating me about the Holocaust. "You must understand what mankind can do to mankind." He applied this same framing to my home-based education on American slavery. These histories are a part of who we are. These histories tell us what we, as human beings, are capable of.

In the East, the Nazis and their collaborators made Jews strip and lie face down in pits before shooting them, using just one bullet per person. They then made another group lie down on top of the previous group and delivered a single bullet to each person. Then a third group. A fourth group. The weight of each body would ensure there were no survivors beneath them. No bullets were wasted.

Then came the vans. Jews packed inside. Killed with carbon monoxide. To maximize genocidal efficiency, the gas chambers were built. Jews who could work were sent to work until they died. "Arbeit Macht Frei." "Work sets you free." Those who could not work--the elderly and children predominant among them--were stripped and told they were going to shower. They were then gassed to death, together and naked. The bodies were burned in the crematoria.

From carbon monoxide to Zyklon B, gas was, itself, a technological advance.

All heads were shaved--whether one was sent to labor or to the gas chamber. The human hair was used to stuff mattresses and woven into textiles. Golden teeth were extracted and melted. Those charged with the direct "business" of death and human resource extraction were typically Jewish prisoners themselves--the Sonderkommando. Many strove to document the genocide they were forced to participate in, burying their notes in the earth around the crematoria.

Then there were the experiments. Children were sewn together. Others had their eyes injected with dye. Some were cut and their wounds intentionally infected. Some were deliberately infected with fatal disease. The Nazis experimented on women, injecting caustic substances into their cervixes and uteruses. The Nazis also surgically extracted bones from some prisoners and then surgically implanted the bones in other prisoners.

Some Nazi experiments were conducted with the aim of advancing technology and tactics in warfare. They conducted freezing experiments, immersing people in water and timing how long they were able to survive. They put people in pressure chambers to simulate high-altitude; some of the victims of these experiments were then dissected while they were still alive.

Again: the same place that produced the Enlightenment produced the gas chambers and the Nazi Doctors. A true history of Western Society must include both.

And it wasn't just the Nazis. The French collaborated. The Dutch collaborated. The Lithuanians collaborated. The Hungarians collaborated. North, South, East, and West. Whole societies participated in the mass murder of 6 million of their neighbors. Whole societies participated in a cross-continental manhunt for every Jewish person, including every Jewish child.

What happened in the concentration camps was so incomprehensibly evil that, after liberation, Eisenhower sought to document as much as he could, later writing "I made the visit deliberately, in order to be in a position to give first-hand evidence of these things if ever, in the future, there develops a tendency to charge these allegations merely to 'propaganda.'"

Eisenhower was not alone. The Allies brought German civilians to the camps so they, too, could bear witness to the genocide their society had produced. Then the Nuremberg trials. History had to be preserved. Evil had to be witnessed.

As my father told me, "You must understand what mankind can do to mankind." To understand humanity, we had to ask how the Holocaust was possible.

Historians sought to answer this question through documented events: How many Nazis were true believers and how many were following orders? Psychologists approached the same question through experimental study of the human mind. Much of the study on group psychology and obedience to authority--including Milgram's infamous work--emerged from the sheer incomprehensibility of the Holocaust.

Now, we see this history increasingly distorted and erased. Why? And what are the consequences of this?

It is quite clear that antisemitism runs rampant through the world. There are many manifestations, one of which seems to be a resentment of acknowledging Jewish suffering. Perhaps this is why some seek to enforce ignorance over and above shared truth. I think this is a moral and intellectual sin.

I also urge people to consider the totality of the consequences of erasing this history. This is a sin against knowledge. We erase the history of Jewish suffering. We erase the history of genocide. We erase the history of Europe. Worst of all, we erase our shared truth of what mankind can do to mankind.

This level of erasure should terrify us.

People sometimes compare Mamdani to Karl Lueger, the activist antisemitic mayor of Vienna in the early 1900s. But Lueger electrified trams, built a gasworks etc., while also inveighing against Jews. The Mamdani formula seems to be "all inveighing; no trams."
