Josh Hart:
"Everybody wants to be the guy that scores the most, that puts the ball in the basket and that's not everybody's path. That wasn't my path and sometimes that's a tough pill to swallow but when you embrace that when you're a star in your role and you take pride in doing the little things that breeds winning basketball. For me as embraced as I was in this city wearing this jersey that sacrifice was easy. Some days it was tough don't get me wrong but you sacrifice for moments like this"
6 Rules for Sports Parents:

One day, the games will end.
Make sure the memories don’t.

Matt Painter said, "I always write stuff on the board and I always say none of this matters if you don’t play hard."
You can't work hard if you're living a state of complacency.
Complacency affects your focus and your discipline.
Everything is earned.
If I had to narrow it to the top 3 skills (not in order):
1️⃣ Ball handling (both hands, under control)
2️⃣ Passing (accuracy + decision-making)
3️⃣ Shooting (proper form + repetition)
Not plays.
Not positions.
Not specialization.
At this age, it’s about skill versatility and fundamentals.
Build the base early.
Everything else layers on top.
Soft loses every day. If a kid really wants to be good, he’ll respect you a lot more if you’re hard. There’s a way to be hard without being degrading. I don’t think you can ever let your kids settle, ever.

Rick Barnes made a great point tonight, and it's something that makes so much sense but I'd never thought of it in that exact way.
Barnes said one of the biggest keys to any team's improvement during the season is the work ethic of those 3-4 guys on every team who probably don't play as many minutes as they should.
He said if those guys are maniacs every day in practice and consistently push the main rotation guys, a team will get better.
There’s nothing more dangerous in high school basketball than an unselfish star player.
The one who passes when they could shoot, plays defense like their scholarship depends on it, and lifts their teammates.
Talent wins games — but humility wins championships.
“Some people like contact, some don’t. So you’ve got to be legal physical, which requires playing with your body, and not grabbing and holding. It’s easy to foul, it’s hard to defend.”
Coach Cronin, speaking about the challenges of playing strong defense
Parents get mad at school coaches when their kids don’t play as much as they think they should. They feel they’ve invested so much time & money that their kid should be playing more when reality is they’ve thrown money away for the last decade on pointless training & AAU teams.🤷🏻♂️
UCONN HC Dan Hurley - Building a System/Identity
- "Our system is how hard we play. How hard we get after people every single possession at both ends of the court & on the backboard."
- "The number one thing you got to understand if you want to have a program that can sustainably be successful and have a chance to win every single night... It's hard to coach that way because it's fu**ing exhausting. To coach every single possession, every single day and when the losing team runs the line because every single drill we do there is a winner & a loser, when they get this close and miss that line, you better be there to call them out and make the whole team now run with them."
"If you want to start the game 6-0, like I start most games just because my team is ready to go because we go so hard every day."
