Last night I learnt about this Liberian postage stamp from 1906 depicting chimpanzee tool use. While it’s origins lie in a painting of a captive chimp (https://t.co/7t3ILVN3hP), it suggests that Liberians at that time knew about chimp tool use or they wouldn’t have used it.
Sharing good news feels strange these days, but here goes. I am excited to announce that I am moving to #Burgos Spain, to join @CENIEH as a Research Professor. It is an immense honor to get to work with this incredible research team beginning in January 2021!

The AAPA calls upon our anthropology community to work against police brutality and anti-Black racism. In order to have any credibility and effect change, we need to have accountability and action within our own profession.

Race does not have roots in biology but in policies of colonialism & oppression still w/ us today. AAPA stands firmly w/those seeking to change these systems, esp. Black, Indigenous and POC for their bravery in a world that has too long caused their suffering.
