@blsanch @matthewstoller Creating and maintaining a fire of hurt and anger is the key to our 2 party system.
1. Find/create/inflame hurt/anger.
2. Blame the other party.
3. Get donations and win elections.
Actually helping people lead comfortable, conflict-free lives is not helpful to pols' careers.
@AntiCommieBecca@O_What_A_Night@VigilantFox I work in construction in a booming, expensive market (SF)
On the current project I'm supervising I heard the crew chief for our (licensed, well-regarded) electrical subcontractor talk about how he had been trying to find a new job, because he only makes $35/hr.
In SF.
@OrbitalZinc@RandPaul I also had it in March 2020.
It was very rough for me that first time.
Regardless, it was insane that I was forced to get vaccinated in 2021.
(And- the vax was also very rough on me, worse than any subsequent bout of C19)
@Joobman@paulg Depends where you are.
I remember going through immigration checkpoints on interior highways in the southwest back in the 80s. Brief questioning, looking in the car windows.
@ant_trauma_cop@Noumenon72@AdamPlantinga What's amazing is how few consequences there often are.
Actual detention for attempting dearresting is fairly rare, and then cases are often dropped.
We're in a whole new ballgame as far as policing is concerned.
@Noumenon72@AdamPlantinga It's actively taught to grown adults as an appropriate course of action akin to free speech.
"De-arresting" is an overt political tactic these days.
@LauraPowellEsq I see this as a net political win for Weiner.
Treated harshly by an element of the left that many aren't fully on board with (militant trans activists)
and booted from a march that ended in violence by those same activists.
@incitafusio With very few exceptions they are NOT stealing food to EAT.
They're stealing food (and everything else) to SELL for money to buy hard drugs.
@SusanDReynolds That corner across the tracks from Truitt & White is NEVER not a garbage strewn mess. There's a trash can there that ALWAYS gets dumped on the ground by tweakers.
And that's 1/2 block from the fanciest shopping district in town.
It's so gross and sad.
@_BranTheMan@ocregister The poor kid isn't really the enemy, he's been groomed & manipulated by his mom & others. In a sane world he'd just be a normal gay boy, but they twisted his mind.
He shouldn't be imposing himself on young women's spaces, but he's just a kid. I feel bad for him.
@JHochderffer@rohindhar Middle aged people seem to be drinking at a similar rate as previous generations, but the future, the young, simply don't drink like previous generations.
Plus the new generations just don't go out nearly as much.
And, after-work bar visits are down due to WFH.
