its actually very funny that this dude immediately clocks the demeanor shift in Fuentes when the conversation comes to his thoughts on gay marriage/sex, as opposed to when he’s talking about the other facets of his bigotry
This is 100% what’s happening in Maryland, especially in the state house, where new press rules seem to appear out of thin air: https://t.co/bFjQK134j5
Lots of good reasons to have AVs in the District, and we support CM Allen's goal, but 200 drivers is clearly not right. It’s about 20x that: more than 4,000 drivers live in DC, making Uber/rideshare one of DC's top sources of work. Not to mention the hundreds of millions of dollars in driver take-home pay that goes back into the regional economy, including the District's.
If I get hit by a car (realistically) going 35 on a bike I’m likely dead, with or without helmet. Helmets are safer, sure. European countries don’t really wear helmets and way less people die, however.
I’m anti-mamdani simply on the basis that he has zero clue how to wield power in the first place.
If you haven’t replaced every position with a loyalist, you’re just a placeholder for the next person who will.
@ryangrim@MikenzieFrost just one excellent question short of a real interview:
“Do you truly believe you had an expectation of a right to privacy and not being recorded at a publicly accessible press conference?”
Asking about two-party recording consent stopped just short of the real Q
Rep Andy Harris defends his viral exchange where he threatened to have a student journalist arrested at a press conference for taking video of him. Fox45 not having it.
like every finance reporter is trying to prove a cabal between private capital, data centers, life insurers, and rating agencies and this guy— whose marginal cost of capital is 20%— just says on the record in the FT it’s all true and it’s his business model:
Freedom Caucus Chair Andy Harris freaked out about being recorded in a press scrum after his candidate forum last night on the Eastern Shore
After being asked about the Iran war, Harris demanded that a reporter be removed, calling on officers to interject. He erroneously invoked Maryland's two-party consent law, which holds that all parties to a private conversation generally must give permission before it may be recorded.
Harris’ argument happened in front of a crowd of other media, all recording with phones, cameras or audio devices. When multiple people chimed in to tell Harris that it was a public setting, he said, “Do you know the law?”
Harris insisted: "I know the law well."
He ended up leaving the presser

Absolutely hilarious exchange here.
Bass: "When we're talking about influence, there are very influential people who are supporting your campaign, who are very very much advocates for bike lanes."
Raman: "Um...yes?"
I had to quit studying French after one semester. It's a beautiful language but their sayings and phrases are idiotic. "My uncle has a red car" "The mouse is faster than the large cat" who gives a shit
@SophieHaigney I got a dehumidifier for our library/guest room and that did the trick for all these concerns. Also, it’s fun to dump out the water it’s sucked from the air.
