In a 6-3 decision written by Chief Justice John Roberts, the Supreme Court deemed that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) does not give President Trump the power to unilaterally impose tariffs. With all due respect to @POTUS, I applaud this ruling. It is a testament to the separation of powers enshrined in the Constitution of the United States and reaffirming that the Constitution grants Congress - not the President - the power to tax.

Echoing my friend Armstrong Williams, “This ruling is not simply about tariffs. It is about limits. Supporters argued the tariffs were leverage to protect American industry. Critics warned that stretching emergency statutes erodes the separation of powers. But in a constitutional republic, process matters. Authority matters. Boundaries matter.”

The boundary set today by the Supreme Court upon The White House is a safeguard on liberty, free market, and global trade. Most importantly, this ruling reverses a dangerous overreach by the Executive Branch and restores constitutional order through the Legislative Branch for future Administrations to follow. Furthermore, American families and American businesses can breathe a sigh of relief and now return to the pursuit of free trade with free nations under the Constitution of the United States.

My encouragement to @POTUS as a next move? Accept the resignation of the Commerce Secretary.
