Dear Beta tinz,

I am writing to you with tears in my eyes as a Cameroonian entrepreneur who has been residing in the United Kingdom for more than fifteen years.

Driven by the desire to contribute to the development of our country, I returned to Cameroon to invest in the school textbook publishing sector. Unfortunately, I have encountered practices that, in my view, undermine transparency and fairness in the school textbook approval process.

As part of Tender No. 0030/12/2024/MINEDUB/CNAMSMD issued in December 2024, my company invested more than 45 million CFA francs in the preparation, design, and production of school textbooks that met the required pedagogical and technical standards.

However, we have been informed that inclusion on the final list of approved textbooks depends more on illicit payments than on the actual quality of the submitted works. This situation places honest publishers in an extremely difficult position and discourages investors who genuinely wish to contribute to the development of national education.

Beyond the considerable financial losses we have suffered, our greatest concern is the future of our children. When textbooks of inferior quality or those that do not fully comply with educational programs are favored for reasons other than merit, the entire education system suffers.

We therefore humbly seek your assistance so that full light may be shed on this process and that the competent authorities may examine the concerns raised by many stakeholders in the sector.

Our only wish is that transparency, fairness, and the best interests of Cameroonian pupils prevail in the selection of school textbooks.

Thank you for the attention you will give to this testimony and to this appeal for quality education for our children.
