“I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy. My sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy, geography, natural history, naval architecture, navigation, commerce and agriculture in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry, and porcelain."
-John Adams, the 2nd President of the United States
“The gentleman was not a person with feminine gender and masculine sex. He was through and through a man. But he was also gentle – in all the senses of that lucent word. He was not belligerent but courageous, not possessive but protective, not aggressive to other men but bold.”
Some uncomfortable facts about the goddess of Freemasonry, depicted in America’s “Statue of Liberty”
• The designer of the statue was Freemason Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi
• Structural framework was provided by Freemason Gustave Eiffel, later famous for his 984-foot Eiffel Tower
• Joseph Pulitzer, the Jewish owner and editor of the New York World, managed to raise over $100,000 for the project
• On Freemason George Washington’s Birthday in 1877, Congress accepted the statue as a gift from the French people
• The statue was dedicated on October 28, 1886, presided over by President Grover Cleveland (Freemason) and Henry Potter (Freemason), Episcopal Bishop of New York, gave the invocation
“I have a theory that 'holidays' evolved from the medieval pilgrimage, and are essentially a kind of penance for being so happy and comfortable in one's daily life.”
Philip Larkin
Celebrating the French Revolution means celebrating this:
The first genocide of modern times was the genocide of Vendée. In 18 months - up to the beheading of Robespierre on July 27, 1794 - 117,000 people from the Vendée region were murdered with the declared aim of carrying out a genocide.
Reason: the population supported the Catholic creed and faith in Christ. People were killed and flayed from the waist down, with their skin tanned and used to make trousers for the soldiers. 150 women’s bodies were boiled to obtain 10 barrels of grease. (Source: Reynald Secher, La Vendée Vengée: le génocide franco-français, Presses Universitaires de France, 1986)
The case of Marie Leroy is illustrative. She was a seamstress with two invalid parents. She denied having hidden priests. It was recorded that she could not sign the trial minutes because she was illiterate. The accusation stated: “Marie Leroy, seamstress, 25 years old, single, from Montillié, is condemned to death for being extremely fanatical and an aristocrat.”
General François Joseph Westermann would declare: “The Vendée no longer exists! It has died under the sabers of our freedom, along with its women and children. I crushed the children under the hooves of my horses, massacred all the women who will never again give birth to brigands. I have nothing to reproach myself for regarding prisoners. I killed them all. The streets are covered with corpses. There are so many that in many places they form pyramids.”
Agostino Nobile – Governed by the Lie
“Hot take: the material world is basically a cosmic scam and we’re all spiritual beings trapped in a really toxic relationship with physical matter”
“Reddit”
“Yikes, can we start talking about how problematic procreation is? Like imagine how ontologically evil you would have to be to condemn more new souls to corporeal reality”
“Millennial-core”
“Normalise escaping the cycle of reincarnation. How is it 1226 and you’re still not a childfree antinatalist?”
“Crusade against the Cathars now please”
There is only the fight to recover what has been lost
And found and lost again and again: and now, under conditions
That seem unpropitious. But perhaps neither gain nor loss.
For us, there is only the trying. The rest is not our business.
T.S. Eliot
@AmericanReform_ Off-topic, but would you be willing to explain the practical difference between a given feature being a Mark/Note of the Church and its instead being an essential property without qualifying as a Note?
Do the four Notes constitute (and exhaust) the Church's very essence?
“There is a sense of hopelessness which comes over persons who are trapped or imprisoned, when all their efforts to attract attention and assistance bring no response. This is the kind of feeling which... we are experiencing in the face of the continued flow of immigration.”
